MEMORIAL DAY
Each year this day comes around where we give honor to those who have
fought for our country and died fighting for what they believed in.
But now for myself I've never looked at this day like i do now. It
has much more of a personal meaning then it ever has. And for those
who have fought in a war for our nation understand what this day
means to us more than anybody. For me this day is a day i will never
forget for the rest of my life, because it is the day a year ago we
lost 2 of our brothers in arms for C Co. 2/37 Armor. To me
personally it feels like it was yesterday, i still can not get over
the fact it has been a year since they have given their lives for
the price of freedom. I will never forget these two men who i fought
alongside with for 15 months in the deserts of Iraq, they were like
family to me. And i'm sure the men of Charlie company will always
feel the same as i do. When ever a thought of Ken comes into my mind
the first thing i think of is him wearing his Hawaiin t-shirt with
his beannie standing on top of the advisory council building in Sadir
City and for Nick the first thought I think of is him wearing his
Australian sheep herders hat around the "Barn" and his pup he named
"Sheila" in Camp Marlboro. The reason I decided to send this email
out is just to ask everybody to say a prayer for the soldiers who
have died fighting for our country and those who right now are
fighting for the price of freedom. And please say a prayer for my
two brothers:
1st LT Kenneth Ballard
SPC Nicholaus Zimmer
who both fell the night of May 30th 2004 fighting in Al Kufa, Iraq.
