Our soldiers chose a cause to fight,
in fighting they give their all.
They signed, they took their oath,
stood up and trained for you.
Never questioning whose battle they fought,
just laced their boots,
picked up their ruck,
and headed for the door,
following the ones gone before.
"Lock and Load!" they yell, as they rush
to take that hill.
American Soldiers will always stand
loyal, tried and true,
between us and them
as a shield for those of us who call this place our home.
I have to laugh now as I found this, written before I even thought really seriously about joining the military.
