Author's Notes: In case you were wondering the game is System Shock. :) ...It will make sense later. Also, I have forgotten how and why the bald eagle came into Cassie’s barn.

Ax

I wanted to fight alongside my Prince, not be jettisoned onto one of Earth’s oceans. Yet here I was.
“Help me” I called, hoping someone would answear.

Cassie

Dad had found a wounded bald eagle and brought her to our barn, where we take care of wounded animals.
“Oh, here, let me take a look at you, honey.” I said softly. It is true, animals respond to a kind voice. The eagle blinked up at me. With much scratches and bites, we put the eagle’s wing in a splint. I stood back and looked at our handiwork.

Marco

"Oh, yeah! Bull's-eye!" I shouted as I hit a mutant with a head shot. "Dad! Dad, come see!" The man in question pocked his head around, blinking blearily.
"Son, it is too early for this." Dad said in a classic father tone.
"It's 1 o'clock." I said quietly.
Dad has been sleeping a lot lately since Mom had died in a lake accident.

Jake

I was playing basketball with my brother, and for the first time in a while, beating him. Strange thing is, though, he didn’t seem to care. It’s not like he got really angry or anything, but he would looked shocked. So I tried to sneakily find out why.
“Anything up?” I asked cheerfully. Okay, maybe not so sneakily.
“Huh?” He looked confused. “Nothing. Good job.”
Okay, something was definitely wrong.

Rachel

Mom looked around at all of us eating cereal and cleared her throat.
“I have an announcement. We are going to go on a hike.”
We sat there for a moment, too stunned to speak. Then everyone started talking at once.
“What brought this one?” I asked.
“Where”” “We’ve never done that before.”
“We are going to do something as a family.” She informed us. “I decided on hiking.”
Actually, it turned out well enough: Nobody killed each other. It would have been fun to wander through the brambles, though, even if I would’ve gotten scratched up.

Tobias

“Hey, kid, wanna see what’s down a toilet?”
“I already know. Water.” I whispered at an attempt at defiance.
They didn’t here me. They just pushed my head down the toilet, which had happened before.
“What do you think you’re doing?” said a voice. It was Jake, a guy who I had seen around but never really talked to before. “Scram.” He told them.
Much to my surprise they did.
“Thank you” I said. Nobody had ever stood up before.
“You’re welcome.”
