Olivia woke up that day with a sense of dread slowly creeping it’s way through her system. Some how, the moment she woke up, she knew that that day, her entire life was going to change , and it wouldn’t be for the better. She had a feeling she knew why the dread was setting in and she walked a little slower, moved a little slower, thought a little slower. She didn’t want her day to start, not yet. She didn’t want to get into her car, the dread almost to her torso. She didn’t want to start the engine, and put her now shaking fingers around the wheel. She didn’t want to pull out of the space she had by her apartment and drive down the road. Everything seemed darker. The odd , dry , quiet wind that blew sent chills up her spine. Even the wind was slowing down. She started when her phone rang and it took her a second to regain her composure. At a light she looked at the caller id. Walter . She wanted to ignore the call, ignore him. She wasn’t oblivious of the irony that she was now upset with him because he wanted to do something she had wanted to do. But …
Nina had been right. As much as Olivia hated to admit it, Nina Sharp had been right…
She wasn’t ready for him to go.
Somewhere …sometime in the last year, Olivia had come to trust him more than anyone else in the world. He meant more to her than anything right now because , for the first time, she found a best friend that she knew would have her back no matter what. Whether or not there was any romantic feelings in this mess , she wasn’t sure, but she knew he was important to her. She knew she could not let him go. And she felt ridiculous. She didn’t depend on men in her life. Not since… but she didn’t think of that much anymore. Which is why she was now sitting in her car, terrified to pick up the call from the estranged from reality scientist that was the father of the man in question. A scientist that made such a mess of things and yet… if he hadn’t she wouldn’t have known him. A catch 22. She hesitated for a second longer before pressing the answer button on her Bluetooth.
“Hello Walter.” her voice was shaky… why was she so worried?
“Olivia…he‘s… I…it… gone…” Walter sounded upset. Oh God…
“Is Peter ok Walter?” a pause “Walter! Is Peter alright?! Is it Astrid?”
“No , no, Agent Farnsworth is fine.” the fact that he didn’t mention Peter did not escape her at all.
“Walter…” time slowed down once again. The wind that had swept by her on the stoops was even slower. She detached herself from her reality. She was on autopilot now… The whirlwind of thoughts going through her mind was making her dizzy.
“It‘s Peter…” Olivia’s breath caught in her throat.
“What about him Walter?” she asked, her muscles tensing, her hands clenching tighter on the wheel.
“Olivia…”
“God dammit! Walter just say it!” she seethed, her reality slowly coming back to her.
“I told him the truth...”
