A husband and wife debate on their decor...

Dec 30, 2005 19:53

OEireannGoBrachO: always difficult...
OEireannGoBrachO: first being indecisive about the drapes....then the tiles int he kitchen...
OEireannGoBrachO: now this.
OEireannGoBrachO: one sec
Sora195: I like to think i'm worth the effort
Sora195: i was not indecisive about the drapes. . .
Sora195: they had to compliment the windows
Sora195: and you took forever to contact the window people
Sora195: its not my fault
OEireannGoBrachO: Mauve was perfectly fine
Sora195: mauve doesn't compliment your skin tone it makes you look sallow
Sora195: we're going witha sage green
OEireannGoBrachO: sage green with our carpeting just isnt going to look good...
Sora195: we have a cream carpeting what are you talking about
OEireannGoBrachO: more of a beige
OEireannGoBrachO: i'm thinking out of the box dear
Sora195: i hate beige
OEireannGoBrachO: this neutrality in the decor is suffocating
Sora195: the walls are dark green
Sora195: the carpet is more oatmeal in color with a dark green border
Sora195: i'm going sage on the curtains
OEireannGoBrachO: yes dear
Sora195: i am not indecisive
OEireannGoBrachO: but what of the pillows
OEireannGoBrachO: on the sofas?
Sora195: which colored sofa is it?
OEireannGoBrachO: the black one.
Sora195: i thought the black one was upstairs?
Sora195: the pillows are in varying shades of green with metallic threaded trim along the borders
Sora195: some have designs embroidered in either asian or celtic knotwork
OEireannGoBrachO: why dont we get them embroidered....our names...in cursive
OEireannGoBrachO: and match the color scheme to the persians on the floor
Sora195: because names on your couch is weird
Sora195: what color is this persian?? it better not be red. . .
Sora195: because that color is in the den
OEireannGoBrachO: disgusting...no...thats in the den
OEireannGoBrachO: haha...
OEireannGoBrachO: no the persian is varying shades of downplayed green
OEireannGoBrachO: and black
Sora195: and white
OEireannGoBrachO: which is why the black sofas would look better in there
Sora195: fine
Sora195: the den has a pool table. . .
Sora195: i'm thinking dark red felt with black wood
OEireannGoBrachO: a more modern feel i think for that room...
OEireannGoBrachO: very modern art, with long red flowers in tall black vases
Sora195: mmhm. . .
Sora195: i was thinking a black wet bar with the barstools having silver cushions
Sora195: i like teh whole red black and silver look
Sora195: like all the fixtures very stainless steel looking
OEireannGoBrachO: mmm....a stainless martini/drink mix set
Sora195: a couch that goes around the room. . ...
Sora195: dart board on one side. . .
Sora195: we'll put cork along that wall
OEireannGoBrachO: w/ a picture of sara in the bullseye....
Sora195: so it can double as a bullitain board
OEireannGoBrachO: at least around the dartboard
Sora195: there will be no pictures of 'it' in our house
Sora195: i'm thinking hte couch around the den should be more like window seats so we can use them as storage as well
OEireannGoBrachO: convenient
Sora195: kind of an oriental feel
Sora195: simple clean lines
OEireannGoBrachO: mmm...
OEireannGoBrachO: actually...
OEireannGoBrachO: i think the dining room would look excelelnt w/ a low table and cushions
OEireannGoBrachO: mahogony
Sora195: i found us a table in mexico
Sora195: its glass
Sora195: and carved in the top is this insanely awesome knotwork design in gold
Sora195: and the bottom has carvings of lilies
Sora195: its gorgeous
Sora195: but it can only sit
Sora195: about 6
OEireannGoBrachO: very nice...
Sora195: i was thinking the entry way
OEireannGoBrachO: or we could have two dining rooms
OEireannGoBrachO: a bit unrealistic
Sora195: no i think it'll make a stronger statement in the entry way
OEireannGoBrachO: match the decor to the table then?
Sora195: i like the idea of the mahogany in the dining hall
Sora195: its more practical
Sora195: round tables are really a pain for dining
Sora195: Dining room not hall
OEireannGoBrachO: they feel immature
OEireannGoBrachO: square are more formal
Sora195: mmhm
Sora195: can it be inlaid on the surface though
Sora195: with cherry and walnut wood perhaps?
OEireannGoBrachO: Mmm.
OEireannGoBrachO: accented with gold
Sora195: just a delicate little border around the edge?
OEireannGoBrachO: very nice
OEireannGoBrachO: not gaudy, but nice enough
Sora195: i believe in tablecloths for formal dining so no need to spend excessive amounts on a table top thats only going to get covered
OEireannGoBrachO: well when we're not dining, it'd be a nice accent i think, with flower arrangements along the middle in gold centerpieces
Sora195: i like orchids
OEireannGoBrachO: nothing excessive
OEireannGoBrachO: Mmm.
Sora195: one lone orchid in a vace
OEireannGoBrachO: depends on the size of the table
Sora195: one lone orchid stem.... i should say
Sora195: mmhm
Sora195: how are we doing the kitchen
OEireannGoBrachO: very modern
OEireannGoBrachO: and very large
OEireannGoBrachO: chef's quality
Sora195: i'm not crazy about tile
Sora195: pain to clean
OEireannGoBrachO: neither am I
Sora195: granite counters in blue pearl.. .which is kinda gray with blackflecks its a dark charcol color actually
Sora195: its really pretty
OEireannGoBrachO: i know i've seen it and I love it
OEireannGoBrachO: hmm.
Sora195: cabinets
Sora195: stainless steel with glass windows?
OEireannGoBrachO: well, obviously, all stainless/black accent kitchen-try...(fridge/stove/etc)
OEireannGoBrachO: hahaha
OEireannGoBrachO: yes.
OEireannGoBrachO: well...idk if ALL of it being stainless would be nice then...maybe black stove/fridge
Sora195: mmmm
OEireannGoBrachO: well, what we have in my house is glass cabinets w/ roses etched into them
Sora195: i don't want roses in my kitchen
OEireannGoBrachO: lol...SOMETHING etched maybe?
Sora195: but i don't want it to to feel cold either
OEireannGoBrachO: black and clear checkered glass
OEireannGoBrachO: ?
Sora195: i like that
OEireannGoBrachO: me 2...hmm
OEireannGoBrachO: what of the floor
Sora195: have it echo the glass around the edge. . . .
Sora195: but just white tiles for the rest of it
Sora195: give it a more open feel
OEireannGoBrachO: mm..it would reflect light a bit too
Sora195: no
Sora195: it wouldn't
Sora195: we don't want the kitchen to dark either
Sora195: remember teh counters are dark
OEireannGoBrachO: ahh..this is true
OEireannGoBrachO: i was thinking inlaid lights
OEireannGoBrachO: along the ceiling
Sora195: just put those in throughout the house
Sora195: with teh dimmer switches
OEireannGoBrachO: yes...dimmers are necessary

^We're probably going to be interior decorators someday....lol
