How do you think women were treated in ancient civilizations?
In almost all ancient civilizations it was taken for granted that the man was the head of the house. Although there were a number of women who had a very strong will who disregarded this custom and ruled their family with the sheer force of their will. Of the ancient civilizations Egypt treated its women better than any other. In Egypt women were fortunate. While they could become Pharaoh only in special circumstances they were otherwise and in all ways equal to men as far as the law was concerned and as I said they could even become Pharaoh under special circumstances.
