It sounds less like "being gendertrash" and more like "being a non-conformist." Is it your gender that keeps you out, or the fact that you have self-respect?

Ah, I wasn't familiar with this term. I guess "trash" just sounded so pejorative, and I reacted. I know that I also feel alienated at jobs in this way, but I think I'm just old-fashioned.

Well, I don't know that it's a term that actually exists besides my use of it here. I'm not sure that I invented it -- someone else has probably used it somewhere -- but I may have. It does sound pejorative because it is, because that's how it feels.

I can imagine how that feels. Being ostracized due to different experience always feels pejorative.
