I'm a proud American citizen!! I believe that our government works. Regardless of whether or not you agree, you have to admit we have it pretty good in comparison with the majority of the world.
I am also 19, and a registered voter. I believe in our political system and I think good citizens are ones that participate in their local, state, and federal governments.
Part of being a registered voter is being called to do jury duty sometimes. I've been called. It kinda feels like being drafted without the fear of war... I have to skip school- something that I HATE to do, to go "do my duty" as an American citizen. Somehow I feel like I should be happier about the prospect of "serving my country" with this task. I don't know, I'm not feeling too patriotic about this whole part as much... It just complicates things. Oh, but I get paid! $10 a day... yay?
Hmm, does anyone know anything about jury duty? If I defered my call and left for college next year, could they make me come back to Oregon to serve? How does this work?
