Pick a date, give me a topic, and I'll talk about that topic. Preferably a topic you know I have opinions on. Why this past week was THE BEST WEEK EVER. Why the ladies are my favorite part of Supernatural. What turning 30 felt like. Why Katniss and Veronica are Buffy's heirs. Or you could ask about what it's like to live in California and imagine ( Read more... )

BTW - your summation of why shipping Tara with male characters (on my journal) is one of my absolute nail-on-the-head favorite things, ever. So I'd adore hearing your thoughts on this.

I admit I'm not always as sensitive/aware of the range of sexualities as I ought to be in theory myself; but many lesbians and gay men have traditionally seen bisexuals as "fence-sitters" or traitors. And gay activist Dan Savage has derided asexuals in a documentary of the same name.

Plus Joss himself proclaimed Willow unequivocably bisexual in response to fandom homophobia. And I can see it either way - most lesbians I know were married, dated, or had sexual experiences with men because they didn't know there was another option, because it's what they were expected to do, etc; and there hasn't been as strong and consistent a lesbian "subculture" as a gay male subculture IMO.

But when people get angry that he didn't use the word bisexual - as a straight man in the 1990's? I'd have been shocked if that was on his radar at all. Bisexuals were fighting prejudice and ignorance from all sides at the time, and it wasn't taken seriously. So I can cut him some slack on that issue to be honest.
