Heh. Found this in the glossary of one of my Buffy research books:
"'Shippers. Fans who favor the sexual pairing of two particular characters in a television series. For example, "B/A 'shippers" refers to fans who believe Buffy and Angel are perfect for each other. Such a fan is said to "'ship A/B" or to "'ship B/A." Occasionally 'shippers will also code the 'ship by combining syllables of each character's name into one name. For example, using the B/A 'ship, 'shippers might call themselves "Bangels." The most popular online 'ship in the 'verse is Spike/Buffy, which is then referred to as Spuffy.
That's right, bitches! We rule the fuckin' online fandom!
/potty-mouthed smugness
So there you have it. The word from the on high Buffy Academia. We run the interwebz. Is this the correct use of schadenfreude?
(Remember when Logo was running a marathon of Buffy episodes and they had the fans write in the best/their favorite episodes, and everyone was stunned (STUNNED!) when it turned out that Something Blue cracked the top 5 and the rest of the list leaned heavily Spike/Buffy episodes? And the fandom was all OMG WUT? And the Spuffies were all HAHAHA IN UR FANDOM TAKIN OVER UR LISTS!? Good times.)
