Mini Meetup and Fun With Wigs
Bleh, feeling awful today, and I'm still probably going to go to work tonight. Because I like to be punished. *sigh* A little bored, so I decided to work on some pictures.
Last week, I had the pleasure to meet Raevynvelcros in person. I've been chatting with her since she first joined House of Resin, what, two years ago? Something like that. Our characters Aria and Konnel have become kind of pen pals (although Konnel has neglected to write her in some time, lol). And even though she lives in NJ, we've never had the ability to meet. She actually lives farther away from me than I thought, 2 hours south. After talking recently, saying we should meet, it ended up that we were both off on the same day and made plans to meet at Peddler's Village. She had never been, and it's just so pretty there and the shops are fun, plus it's about half way between the two of us. Her boyfriend came as well, and he was a lot of fun, too.
Like good little dolly people, we brought a few of our crew with us. Raevyn's collection is in a bit of flux, selling off some that didn't quite work out and reshelling a few others, so she had most of the rest of her crew with her, while I of course only had a small fraction of my full collection. I brought both Konnels (as he'd been requested and it seemed right), Eilonwy (similarly requested and she'd probably have come with me anyway), Teddy (as he'd been giving me those puppy dog eyes), Stix (because I think he might have stabbed me otherwise), and Zinnia (as she's just so cute).
We stopped to rest under a tree for a while and unpacked our babies, chatted, and I took a few pictures. Not as many as I might have liked - honestly, I probably could have spent the rest of the day happily taking pictures of our kids and posing them adorably all over Peddler's Village. That's just how I am. But as we seemed content to sit and just enjoy the day, I just took a few random shots, mostly of Rae's Dream High Studio fairies compared to my kiddos. I am in desperate need of one of these little guys. So adorable and the perfect size for my Dryx!
Love this one with Stix. He doesn't look all together amused by having the little one on his lap, I think he's a bit confused, but I love how small he is compared to Stix (although Stix is not my smallest, Poppy is).
And here's the little girl with Konnel. They are absolutely the perfect size for Konnel's pixie friend.
Rae's Aria. I didn't think of it until way after, but we totally should have gotten a picture of Aria and Konnel together. Both Konnels. And probably one of each of them. Oh well, next time.
I love Rae's little tiger. I can't remember if he had a name or not. I think the merman is Maelar, Aria's older brother. The Dreaming Doll girl (at least I think she was Dreaming Doll) to his left I can't remember her name, but she's part of Rae's fictional band, Astraya. I love all the stuff she does about the band, it's really cute. And her girl is just adorable.
So it was a lot of fun. I think Rae had a good time, too. I hope we can see each other again sometime. Eventually I'd like to make it down to one of the South Jersey meets again (when it goes back to afternoon hours again and I have a new job that doesn't require me to work on weekends) and I'd love it if she could make it to the Bethlehem meets.
Now, as you know, I recently acquired my official 50th full doll, my Doll Love Cecelia, and have been working on her character. Although her faceup has not yet been fixed, I've been looking around for a wig that I'd like her to have. I pretty much determined that I wanted a Kanawaves for her. And I'd fallen in love with this awesome purplish blue color, but they didn't seem to have it in stock on JPop. Also, I've decided on a character for my MNF Elf Siean. She's going to be my Selkie girl! I think all her friends are going to end up being minis, unlike Konnel's story, where most of them will be SD. Gives me more reasons to own MInifee. lol So as Malinda and I had been talking about bringing our Celtic girls to the Celtic fest at the end of next month (Malinda now has an Irish half pixie girl that she made out of her minifee VE chloe and of course my selkie is Scottish), she promised to faceup my girl so I needed to look around for wigs for her, too. And eyes. Working on that one. I think I've found a couple I like on ebay, just need to make a choice and hope they come in from China in time for the end of September.
Anyway, Malinda let me look at some of her wigs on Monday to see if she had anything I liked, see if there was anything she wanted to throw away, and what she might like to sell. So I ended up with a few of her cast off wigs (a few of which I'm going to try and revive and use on someone, including a nice Leeke wig that is much like Lazuli's wig, only a different color). Including the kanawaves Wintermoon wig I'd wanted for the Cecelia!
You can kind of sort of see that her faceup is still messed up from trying to remove the gunk from her eyes. I haven't had the opportunity to have her fixed yet, but at least the wig helps hide it for now, and she still looks beautiful.

The wig makes her look softer, but she can totally pull off a bit of pouty sexiness. I am seriously loving this character.
Then I tried on the wig the Cecelia was borrowing - Jurianna's old JRock wig - on Juniper and it doesn't eat her face like her old wig!
I really like this wig on her, although I'm seriously considering changing her from Juniper, Akari's daughter, to someone else. Or she can keep the name Juniper, but I really don't think she works as my Juri '05's daughter anymore. I think I might like her much better if I do something else with her. I've been having issues with her for years now and I've just not been happy with her. A few faceup might be necessary as well.
Also, I made a deal with Malinda to buy her Soom Syen head, as I always thought she'd been pretty and Malinda had no use for her anymore. She'd been having issues trying to sell her and finally asked if I just wanted to buy the head as I couldn't afford the whole doll. Unless by some miracle I'm able to save up for the body some time in the future before she sells the Soom body with the cute Syen paws, she's going to end up with a 5star body, I think. Not sure what she's going to be, and while I currently don't have eyes for her as well as a body, she, too, got a wig from Malinda's stash.

Finally, as Malinda owed me money toward Justin's birthday/Christmas presents, she offered me a girl 5star body. It's slightly off color, but I put my Christmas/birthday present Soom Argyl on the body. The fact that the body has Soom hands that are slightly off color, but the right color for the Argyl's face, seems to make it work okay for me. Plus, with clothes, it's less noticeable. Hopefully I won't go crazy over the color difference as I kind of like her on the body. And, with another wig I got from Malinda, here's my 51st full doll! No name or character as yet.
She is so super cute! And yes, this is technically Effie's outfit, but it was the easiest thing I could find for her (which sadly left Effie a little naked o.O) that I thought would fit the taller body. The dress is a little short for her, so I think I'll have to work on getting her some appropriate sized clothes, but she's such a cutie muffin! I have no idea who she is. She looks human to me, but I have no humans I need to make, or children of humans, and I really don't want to start adding horns or hooves or anything else weird but overdone. And I can't think of what else to make her. Right now, she's just going to be cute until she comes up with something. In the mean time, I think she'll be keeping this wig (as opposed to the JRock blond and pink one she came with, as cute as it was) but she'll need new eyes; these are the 16s that came with the Cecelia. Or are they 14s? Pretty sure they're 16. Too big, obviously, and I don't think she wants pink eyes. But I absolutely adore her.
In other news, went to put Mora on the F60 body only to find out that her head is much more buttery yellow than the ashy yellow of Fairyland. The difference is too great, sadly. So I went to put Akari back on the Delf body anyway, and discovered the hook I had didn't work for her head anymore! No idea what happened to the original hook that allowed me to hook her headcap on, but it wasn't working. Plus, although she's sueded and had wonderful posing with her head last I had her on the body (from what I remembered), it now wobbles like crazy. Malinda gave me a new hook, so at least her headcap is on tight, but she still wobbles. I'm thinking about sticking the eyeputty I'd put in Mora's head to compensate for the lack of type 2 neck piece might help Akari, but I'm too tired and blech to do anything about it now.
Finally, trying to work on Konnel's next chapter for the writer's group. I laid out the chapter plan yesterday, jotting down the points I want to make, and adding in what needs to be tightened, what needs to be deleted, that kind of thing. While I didn't write anything on the chapter exactly, I still feel this is progress. Even if I'm too tired and blech to write at work during my one and only 15 minute break, I'm going to still take everything with me so I at least have the option of staring at it. Hey, at least I'm thinking about it again. Brain's going nuts from contemplating it, so much better from months ago when I couldn't even think about it. With luck, I'll actually have it for the next meeting in two weeks.
Ugh, I really don't want to go to work. I feel like I'm going to warf.
