What the hell, website?!

Recently I discovered a new website that will be opening soon.  Pottermore, a site for the Harry Potter books that's supposed to be a new way to interact with the books.  It's opening in October, but early registration was happening on July 31st.  (Figures it would be that date, right?)  So July 31st at around 10 am, I went to check it out.  Registration was already closed.  But wait, it's only day one of the registration.

Apparently, for the next seven days, one day for each book, there would be seven chances to gain early entry to the site.  All you had to do was find the Magic Quill by discovering the trivia answer and adding that answer to the end of the main page web address.  Each day the question would relate to a different Harry Potter book.  So Sunday was the Philosopher's Stone.

So okay, I missed Day One because I didn't know what was going on and didn't check it out at midnight.  Six more days to discover the Magic Quill.  No proiblem.  I would check things up before I went to bed then, after midnight.  So when I got home from seeing Captain America last night (which was fucking awesome!!!!) I went on the site.  The main page hadn't changed, it still said that Day One registration was closed.  Okay, so whatever time schedule it was on hadn't changed over to August 1st yet.

Deciding to wait a little longer, I typed up the last of what I wrote for July Nano and updated my numbers on both the Camp Nanowrimo site and JulNoWriMo, the non-affiliated July Novel Writing Month I learned about on my first year doing the original Nano.  Figured, if I was going to be writing during July this year (as I didn't last year) I might as well make my word count do double duty.  Some people apprently decided to write two books, one for each, totalling over 100K words, but I personally think they're crazy.  I figure, if I win for the one, I win for both.  I'm not writing two books.  Crazy people...

When I was done with that, the site still hadn't updated with Monday's clue.  So I went to take a look at some of the forum stuff on both the Nano sites, see what people had written lately, see where my word ranking was on JulNoWriMo (last I saw, I was in the top 50 on words), all while watching a bit of Comedy Central.

After posting my day's excerpt of what I wrote on the Nano forums as I was so pleased with my scene with Alaric, I checked the site again.  Still no update.  But now I was watching an episode of South Park I hadn't seen the whole thing of, so I figured, okay, maybe the site will turn over at 2am.  Sounds like a good round number.  2 am came around and still no update.  But now a new episode of Futurama is on, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to watch that as well.  In the meantime, I go to check up on DoA, as I've been kind of absent on that site for a while since I've been writing so much.

So now it's getting close to 3 am.  I check the site.  Nothing.  I finally decide maybe it was time I went to bed and try to get up at 8:30 just to see what's going on.  I get ready and at around 3:30 decide to check the site again.  Half hour later, I still couldn't sleep so at 4 am, I reloaded the site again and still got nothing.  Finally, unable to take it anymore, I went to bed.

My alarm work me up at 8:30 this morning and I blearily stumbled down the stairs to my computer to reload the main page.  The fucking registry had been closed for Day Two!  What the fuck!  When the hell did it change over to give the damn clue for day two?  There were four and a half hours I wasn't on the site.  What time did it finally turn over?  Unless there's something going on that I'm not aware of.  Seriously, how could I have missed it?!  Seriously pisses me off!  I stayed up until after 4 in the morning to find this fucking Magic Quill because I want to get in on this site early.  What the hell am I doing wrong?  Or is it me?  Is it the site?  What the fuck!

I'm going to try again tonight before I go to bed, but I can't stay up all night every night trying to discover what's going on with this stupid thing.  I still have shit to do during the day - work, packing for my vacation, finishing the girls' Hogwarts dresses, and maybe get a chance to take some pictures of a few of the kids that have either arrived recently or had chances made to them.  Not to mention, doing a little writing to finish my novel.  I'm fucking exhausted right now and I got nothing out of my dedicated search, which I think is bullshit.  So what the hell, website?  What the hell?  Currently, I'm a bit soured to the point that I almost don't want to deal with the site in October if I can't get in during this week.  Especially not if I work so hard to try to get in early and get nothing for my efforts.
