eilonwydreams I caught a whole bunch of boxelder bugs (as I later ascertained) scurrying around in the dirt and brush near a paved path at work. The bright red was what caught my eye. Most were busily engaged in mating; joined end to end, one would drag the other along--I didn't catch whether they took turns. According to the websites I found (

http://www.ento.psu.edu/extension/factsheets/boxelder.htm), they are a nuisance pest--but to me, at least for that moment, a fascinating subject. :-) In the sun, all the little specks of dirt and pollen show up like stardust on its body.
