December

It's December, which means it's 20+C in the middle of the day (and sometimes in the evenings and mornings as well) and Christmas is on it's way, along with summer and knocking people out for fun. December is probably one of my favourite months, as the days aren't too hot, or too cold, it's the right temperature for 101 pasta salads in the evening, and school is nearly over for another year! In other ways, though, it's a sad month. It's a month of ends. The end of the year, the end of school, the end of annual excitement for Christmas and presents. My parents' love to pretend that Santa is still real, although I stopped believing in him years ago, because I'm their only child and 8 Christmasses does not seem enough for them to have me as a all-believing kid.

Sometimes, I miss Santa and the joy he used to bring me. It's been more than 13 years now, though, since Santa first started, and I grew up.

But the excitement of Christmas and the joy of seeing little kids' faces light up brings back wishes of being able to hide under the Christmas tree, curled up and trying to get a glimpse of Santa, whoever him may be brings back the pain of growing up and losing all that belief in everything everyone told you.

Christmas is still a time for joy, though, and I can't wait to see what presents my parents' managed to round up this year (including, hopefully, some of the ones from the long list of things I want, not all of them cheap).

December, a time for joy. Let's just hope no one tries to blow up any more countries. That'd just be mean.

december, santa, christmas
