He gets a morning walk and an evening walk - last night we went into the park after 10pm and i just sat on a bench enjoying the cool air. The rest of the day he pretends to sleep or nips out into the garden. I have not taken him in the car for over a week - i think he would die in it!

You don't have air conditioning in your car? It's automatic here (and of course breaks down periodically and takes a fortune to fix).

I do have it, but this is only the second time in my life I have needed it and I keep forgetting it is there...
