Tips for cosplay [KH/FF style!]

3rd entry about cosplay!!!!!

Anyway, everyone that likes to cosplay Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy. You have gazillions of advanced CG in your hands nowadays, specially now with the remakes of Final Fantasy and Dissidia Final Fantasy released.

So, I have to ask you: why insist on using FANARTS as color reference? CGs are much more reliable for that because they are more similar to what the character would actually look like if he/she was...well, real. So, for colors, at least, try using more CGs as reference. Of course, good sense is always called for, so if you are using the old FFVII CGs you might want to use the movie's screenshots. In case there is no recent CG pictures of said game (maybe you want to cosplay FFV?)then you will have to go for rule number 1 about using illustrations as references

And since we are on the topic of FF/KH = gazillions of characters with spiky hair, here is something. It's same problem we, illustrators, face. You have to keep in mind when styling your wig: Spiky hair has LOGIC, it's not a bunch of messy pointy hair drawn/styled randomly. And don't abuse of products that makes your hair/wig stiffy, it will look SO unnatural sometimes...

What I mean is... you might want your wig to look like this

And not some random half-baked Naruto cosplay (no need for pictures, right? I KNOW you've seen at least ONE in your life!)

Just for the record: Zexion's hair is greish blue, not lavender, not purple, not light blue, not silver, not grey.

Kuja's hair is light lavender, not silver, not grey, not white.

Roxas/Cloud/Larxene/(insertblondcharacternamehere)'s hair is not yellow, it's blond.

But Marluxia's hair is just pink =). So is Lightining's. But not FREAKING NEON PINK, right?

rant, kingdom hearts, final fantasy, cosplay
