Living together with Jun was like a paradise - aside than the fact that they were forced to live under poverty because of the old man’s selfish wish. Ohno was grateful that he had friends like Nino and Aiba who were more than willing to help them. Even Sakurai, the guy that Ohno jealous the most admitted that he was happy for them, with clear thread that Ohno better take a very good care of Jun, a note that Ohno gladly fulfill.

Jun had given up his model career as his father threatened to sue every agency if they dare to hire the man. Besides, he got pregnant which was a perfect reason to quit the job. Ohno still considered himself as the luckiest guy on earth for having Jun as his partner - despite of his not-so-good-looking face - despite of his uncertain job, but Jun chose him of all people.

“O-chan, we have to make sure that our Budoukan performance goes well and perfect,” Aiba said as he gave him a draft of a concert plan.

Ohno took the paper and scanned it quickly; Nino did the same beside him. “I want to add an acoustic in the middle,” Ohno said.

Aiba and Nino lifted their heads almost in instant as they heard it; Ohno rarely proposed ideas, he usually stayed cool and accepted what his friends said. Nino’s lips curved into a weak smile, he placed his hand on his shoulder.

“Let me assume that it has something with Jun and the unborn baby,” the guitarist said, grinning amusingly.

“What else,” Ohno shrugged. “But only if you both agree.”

“Of course,” Aiba beamed and noted on his paper, “what song that you want to sing?”

“I want to do a cover,” Ohno said. He had been thinking for some times and he had found a perfect song to describe his feeling towards Jun, to express how much he loved the man. “Mirror, by Justin Timberlake.”

Nino nodded understandingly, “I’ll arrange the key for you,” his partner said.

“Thanks.”

“Great idea,” Aiba added another note, “the fans will like it - I mean who doesn’t know Justin?”

“Thank you,” Ohno said again, “and I’m sorry if it sounds selfish and involves my own feeling.”

“No, no, no,” Aiba shook his head. “It’s all okay, don’t worry, O-chan.”

The rest of the meeting mostly talked about the other preparation and before the clock’s hand pointed to 10 pm; they had finished. Ohno tiredly bid Nino good bye as they parted at the station. He walked while lowering his hat to cover his face - it was too late for dinner and he felt guilty to Jun for promising him to go home early. He tightened his jacket and closed his eyes; his life for these few months seemed too complicated for a simple guy like him. Everything started since he met Jun - when he accidentally poured the guy’s precious shirt with the wine. Maybe that was the worst and the best day of his life; he couldn’t get Jun’s face out of his brain ever since. And when the man finally surrendered to him, it felt completely like a dream - a beautiful dream that probably won’t last very long.

He sped up his steps as he walked from the station towards their apartment. His old watch showed 10.45 pm and it was totally cold outside. He almost ran, heading his door at the far corner. He unlocked the door as slowly as he could, trying not to make any sound, but the room was still bright as a sign that Jun hadn’t slept yet. Ohno stepped in and found the man had fallen asleep on the couch, crouching under a blanket. His head bent to a weird position; he even didn’t take off his eyeglasses.

His heart clenched; the realization hit him like a sudden wave at the calm sea. He was the one to blame for dragging Jun into this misery life; the man deserved a better husband. But, it was too late now to change what they had done. Ohno squatted, fixing the blanket to cover Jun’s body. He leaned to the edge of the couch, closing his tired eyes and fell asleep in no time.

“Satoshi.”

He heard Jun’s voice whispered in his ears; Ohno opened his eyes confusedly, his neck was so stiff and sore. Jun’s face was right above him; the man was smiling broadly.

“Good morning,” Jun said, pulling himself further, but Ohno gripped his wrist to land a kiss on Jun’s right hand.

“You smell,” Jun protested, but letting Ohno pull him closer and give him tight hug.

“I missed you.”

“Oh, yes, we were separated like ten hours yesterday.”

“And it was too long for me,” Ohno said, burying his face on Jun’s neck.

“Satoshi, I know that you’ve missed me a lot, but I still want to have a proper breakfast instead of burned toast,” Jun said as he released himself from his arms and waited for him to follow him. “Wash your face and brush your teeth first.”

“Yes, captain,” Ohno smiled, walking towards the sink to wash up. But before he could finish; Jun had joined him, throwing up like crazy.

Ohno had gotten used to it already; he rubbed Jun’s back to ease his feeling and as he stopped and leaned his head to Ohno’s shoulder tiredly, the latter finally spoke.

“You didn’t drink your milk properly, did you?” he brushed Jun’s thick hair.

“I don’t like the taste, it only makes me nausea,” Jun said tiredly, “and I forget to tell you that I hate milk.”

“Now take a rest, let me take care of our breakfast.”

“I’m okay,” Jun wiped his mouth and straightened his body. He left Ohno for the kitchen, making him shook his head in disbelief. Perhaps every pregnant person was selfish and hard-headed, he thought.

Maybe Jun and their baby was Ohno’s lucky charm. Aiba informed that the tickets for their first concert had almost sold out and there was nothing to worry about now. Jun’s father was still narrow-minded and did everything he could to destroy them, but as he learned that Jun carried Ohno’s baby; he was mellowing out and gave Jun a short phone call. Jun was still angry to what the old man did and only answered firmly before switching off his phone and threw it to the drawer. He said nothing to Ohno, but the latter knew how mad Jun was and supported by his unstable mood - it only got worsened.

The concert day was approaching and they had almost done with the preparation. Jun’s morning sickness wasn’t as bad as before and he was so excited to attend the concert. He waited at the backstage patiently as Ohno and Nino did their last rehearsal. Ohno knew Sho, as the stage director, also attended their last rehearsal and he had politely asked the man to accompany Jun at the backstage. His jealousy towards Sho had vanished little by little as the time went by. Jun had proven him that he chose Ohno over everything in this world - including his cozy rich life.

He sang ‘Mirror’ with all his heart, closing his eyes, picturing Jun’s face in his head and when he finished, he heard applauses from audiences’ seat. Jun and Sho were there; Ohno didn’t see them moving from backstage to the seat they were sat on and he was a little bit embarrassed.

“I think it’s okay for me to go home now, I’ve heard your song, and I don’t want to share it with your fans” Jun said, half joking. “That was so beautiful, Satoshi.”

“The song is for you, regardless how many people will enjoy it” Ohno said. He jumped down from the stage and reached Jun’s hand. “You’re my mirror that reflects every part of me.”

Nino coughed loudly from behind, “Oi! It’s not the right time for a lovey-dovey scene; we got work to do now.”

“Geez,” Ohno returned to the stage and gave Nino a good punch on his upper arm.

“It amused me to see you like that, you know,” Nino chuckled, guiding their way towards the dressing room.

“You’ll do the same thing if you’re in love, unless Aiba kun can’t treat you romantically.”

Nino almost choked by the water he was drinking; he coughed and blushed. “I envied Jun so much,” he stated.

“You should have fallen in love with me at the first place,” Ohno said, laughing.

“Never - even though you’re the last choice.”

They laughed together and continued their preparation. Nino took shower ahead of him and Ohno used that time to memorize their song list.

He was nervous, but also glad that the audiences enjoyed their performance. He could see Jun from the stage; the man was standing at the VIP row, smiling at Ohno - it was a kind of magic that they could find each other at the time like this. As the concert ended, they and the rest of the crews celebrated it with beers - but Ohno only drank a glass and said that he needed to accompany Jun home.

“What a sweet father-to-be,” Aiba commented, giggling.

“Let them go home, pregnant mommy needs rest,” Nino continued; all of them laughed by Nino’s joke.

Jun circled his hand on Ohno’s elbow when they stepped together towards the exit, he looked exhausted but he still smiled broadly. They would go back home by train - the last one.

“I’m so touched,” Jun said as they boarded the traim, hands intertwined to each other.

“Jun,” Ohno said as he brushed the man’s hair, “I love you.”

The taller said nothing; he leaned closer to him and rested his head on Ohno’s shouler.

“I can’t promise you the world, but I’ll give you my life.”

“I don’t need the world as long as you’re with me,” Jun answered sleepily, “and I’m carrying your life now.”

Ohno pulled the man closer and inhaled Jun’s body scent deeply. The taller didn’t use his expensive perfume anymore, but his scent remained as mesmerized as before - something which made Ohno fell in love with him.

Jun slept almost immediately when they finished taking a quick shower; his sleeping face was the most beautiful scene Ohno had ever seen. He couldn’t sleep yet, so he freed his arm off Jun’s head, opened his drawer and took a notebook from it.

He wrote what he felt - his love for Jun that led them into a messy-but-happy life - his excitement to wait for their baby’s birth and his worrisome about what to do next. He was afraid that his band’s fortune won’t last for any longer - that Jun had to be suffer because of him and the image of Jun’s father who would take the man away along with their baby still haunted him.

Ohno’s eyes was teary as he continued writing; but it was happiness rather than sadness tears. He extended his hand to touch Jun’s cheek and leaned closer to give him a kiss on his temple. What made Jun choose him was still a mystery, but let it remained unknown. They were happy and that was enough. He put the note back to its place and decided to sleep.

The following months were the rows of luck to their band. They were contracted for an original album, sponsored by a well-known electronic brand. Rakuen gained its trust again as Jun’s father withdrew his summon towards the agency. Ohno couldn’t ask for more as their lucky still went on and on.

Jun entered his sixth month without any major problems. He spent most of his days by designing baby clothes or at cooking class or pregnancy exercise. His father offered help, but the man refused it immediately, saying that Ohno was more than capable to keep him alive.

“A baby girl,” the doctor announced when they went together for checkup that evening. Ohno was still on his stage costume - the hospital staffs almost didn’t permit him from entering due to his spectacular boots.

“I can’t wait,” Ohno said as he gripped Jun’s hand tighter than before. Nevertheless, he was nervous and felt the anxiety grew in his stomach.

“Jun, are you okay?”

Jun stayed silent along the way home; as if he had something in mind that he couldn’t tell.

“I’m okay, I’m just uncertain about many things.”

“What is it?”

“Whether I can be a good parent for this child or not, whether I can raise her well in the future.”

Ohno patted the taller on his back and said nothing. He felt the same way too, but there was nothing they could do about it. All they could was doing their best for the kid and raise her with all the love they had.

“Everything will be just fine, Jun,” Ohno said. They walked slowly towards their apartment, Jun jokingly said that he wanted to wear Ohno’s leather jacket.

***

A month before their baby’s birth was the busiest time for the couple. Ohno had to go outside the town, leaving Jun for his tour and the latter patiently said that he would be okay to prepare everything by himself. So with reluctant, they parted that night after the sweetest love making as if Ohno wanted to carve every curves of Jun’s in his head, making the pregnant man blushed deeply with all his affection. Ohno would be back in four days, he left three pages notes for Jun to be obeyed regarding the preparation of the birth and his weekly exercise.

After a lot of kisses, they finally separated and Ohno left Jun alone. Shaking his head, Jun started cleaning up the apartment, a bigger one from when they start living their marriage life. Ohno’s income rose rapidly for the past three months; they were able to afford a better apartment and a few new furniture. Ohno bought him a laptop to replace the old one and Jun was holding it now. Jun rarely wrote something, but today he felt like writing. He brought it towards the dining table which was also new and put it down. He switched it on and waited for couple of seconds.

His fingers started typing; it was hard at the beginning but the more he wrote, the easier it was. That was a narration of his meeting with Ohno at the party almost one and half year ago; he described his feeling with details, including his anger to the careless Ohno Satoshi.

In the last line, he wrote with different font; something that he had really wanted to say.

I chose you with no reason
With Love, Jun

Satisfied with he had typed, Jun switched off the laptop and started to try the new receipt he had just learnt yesterday at the cooking class.

Ohno and Nino finished their last concert smoothly; they set back their belongings and prepared to come to Tokyo. Jun had called him just now; he informed that he would cook Ohno’s favorite food as a welcome party.

“Drag Nino and Aiba along with you,” he said. “I’ll go to supermarket now, tell me if you want to eat something particular.”

“As you wish,” Ohno answered gladly, “be careful, okay.”  He stored his phone to his pocket and zipped his last luggage. Nino murmured that he needed to check on Aiba and he disappeared from the room. They would fly back at 10 pm - around three hours from now.

Ohno moved around the room to check whether there was something forgotten, but it seemed all of their stuff were stored safely inside their bags. He managed to go outside to remind Nino and Aiba to be hurry when he found something on the floor - his lucky charm. Ohno bowed to take it; he wondered how this thing could fell from his neck, since he used it as a pendant. Jun made it for his lucky charm when he and Nino first performed at Budoukan, it was a small pocket bag made from Jun’s scarf when they first met and inside it was their piece of hair tied together. He would ask Jun to tie it back as he arrived home. He stepped outside and warned two of his friends to be hurry.

***

The traffic was light that evening, Jun stopped a cab to go the nearest supermarket. They had never had dinner together with Aiba and Nino since their tight schedules increased day by day and Jun wanted to celebrate their closing concert with his hand cooking.

He checked his note once again, making sure that he had written everything he needed. It was weird, how love could change a person - he was a spoiled rich boy before he met Ohno - he even never visited his own kitchen. But, marrying Ohno had changed him completely; he took cooking lesson, he washed his own clothes, cleaned their apartment and pushed away his selfishness. Ohno had showed him the way to be a better person - not just a useless good-looking-prince.

Jun finished his purchasing and returned home by taxi again. The watch on his left hand showed 7.20 pm. Ohno would fly back in less than two hours; he left his phone home on its charger, he would apologize later to his husband.

He had prepared the paper bags on his side when something happened. It was so fast that he couldn’t analyze what was going on. A big vehicle crashed the cab; leaving it rolled on and on, something like explosion was heard and the last scene Jun saw was a light at the nearest convenient store. He tried to touch his stomach, but his hand was numb and he lost to unconsciousness.

“I can’t reach him,” Ohno told Nino as their plane landed safely at Narita Airport. He had called Jun for nth times, but he didn’t pick it up.

“He must have already fallen asleep at this hour,” Nino commented, giving him a pat to calm him down.

“He knew that I forgot our apartment key,” Ohno said, trying to call again. But an unknown number appeared on his phone screen, he lifted his eyebrows; who would call to his number at this late hour. He pushed the answer button and attached it to his ear.

“We’re from the Tokyo Medical University Hospital, Sir.”

Ohno moved to the emptier space to listen better, “Is there anything I can help?” Ohno asked.

The same speaker spoke to Ohno and what she said had paralyzed him. His knees touched the carpet below him and he lost his ability to speak, he even didn’t realize when Nino and Aiba approached him, shaking his shoulder. Nino asked something, but Ohno couldn’t digest its meaning; the man grabbed the phone from him and spoke on his behalf.

Aiba forced a mineral water to his mouth, until he could arrange his breath.

“Let’s go,” Nino said from his left side. Ohno let them drag him away from the airport; he was completely lost his senses - it couldn’t happen to him - not now.
