Prologue |
1 The following week came too soon from their expectations, or it was because they were too busy with their last assignment and the songs list that they had to finish at the last minutes in order to perform them night by night.
Ohno sat on the chair while seeing his band mate walked back and forth, with his fingers waving on either of his side. Ohno had never seen the other so worked up like now - Nino was the one who had always acted cool no mattered how hectic the situation was.
But he himself didn't do any better. His lack of sleep was to blame in his case. He didn't have any to blame other than that beautiful swan with the scarf and the scent which haunted his sleep. The swan seemed to tease him in each dreams, standing near to him, but it wasn’t close enough for him to catch it. He kept wondering what the meaning behind all of those dreams was.
“Ohno -san, Ninomiya - san, are you ready?” Aiba’s head peered from behind the door and Ohno should clamped his mouth shut when he saw Nino stood perfectly once he saw the man.
“Well, what do you think? Do we look like we’re ready?” there came snarky comment from Nino as Ohno had guessed. He was about to apologize, afraid their boss might have not taken the comment so well, but he didn’t need to worry about it at all.
“You’ll do great Nino, don’t worry.” Aiba laughed his heart out and confidently walked into their changing room and sat on one of the chairs, still with wide grin on his lips.
“Thank you for the opportunity, Aiba-san. But what is the occasion for all of these? You seemed just agree to whatever the lists we gave you.” Ohno said, ignoring the pouting Nino who didn’t have any options but walked to the both of them.
“Hmm, I want to tell you but it won’t be a surprise anymore won’t it? Come on; let’s go to the back stage.”Aiba stood abruptly and casually circled his hand around Nino’s shoulder, dragging the younger away. Ohno just quietly followed them, wondering how this all would end.

"So, I could hardly wait to work together with you all under Rakuen Production, I believe we will shine together. Now, please welcome Rakuen future stars on stage, Rainy Rainbow." Aiba closed his opening speech and gestured towards Ohno and Nino who stood dumbfounded beside the stage. They looked at each other until the floor manager nudged them to the stage. Ohno couldn't believe what he had just heard but it seemed Aiba was not an ordinary people as he had just created a new artist management under Rakuen production, and he would promote him and Nino as a team.
Ohno stood in the middle of the stage, grabbing the microphone which was prepared for him. His eyes scanned the guests before him, he felt more nervous now to see how people looked at them expectedly. He glanced at his right - Nino was no better, or he could tell that Nino was even worse. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes before starting to sing and suddenly the goose in his dream came behind his eyelids but somehow it presence calmed him down before he opened his mouth and started singing perfectly.
Once his voice was heard, all of the audiences inside the bar went silent and he forgot his anxiousness. Ohno sang the song perfectly, he stopped at the refrain, and letting Nino charmed their audiences again with his guitar. They both hit the keys and that alone brought roar into the bar.
Ohno lost his count on the song they played when sometime later; his eyes seemed to trick him. He saw the slayer in his dreams among the audiences and his nose suddenly smelled the scent that had haunted him for the last weeks. He stopped and forgot the lyrics he should have sung. His eyes scrunched to see any shadow of that scarf.
He felt a nudge on his back and glanced at Nino who leaned back to back at him. He stared at his best friend for a moment before reality hit him back and he continued his lyrics after Nino covering his mistake with his guitar. He should have forgotten his dreams, he thought miserably.

"What was that old man? You forgot the lyrics out of the blue??" Nino quickly complained as they got off the stage. Ohno only gave a shrug over the question, he couldn't tell Nino the reason, it was all because his silly dreams.
"If Aiba really wants to promote us, you should be more aware of your own lyrics," Nino kept on preaching and Ohno decided to stay silent, it would be useless to answer anyway.
"Ohno san, Ninomiya san, come, I want to introduce you with a friend," Aiba came from nowhere and surprised them both. Ohno saw Nino beamed once he saw the taller and he just relieved to finally off from Nino's preach.
"I need to go to the restroom; I'll catch you two later,” Ohno said. Nino and Aiba nodded; both of them left him there, Ohno slightly saw Aiba circled his hand on Nino’s waist as they walked together.
He quickly got his business done and washed his face to freshen up, wiping all the sweats he got there and straightening his brown dyed hair. He got out once he thought he was quiet represent able - as Nino always told him to do.
He smiled - looking around when people - especially girls noticed him. He just nodded every now and then, remembering that he was in the party where his boss hosted - he’d better be nice.
He took the red wine that one of the waiters brought in her hand, trying to locate his boss and his best friend among those packed people. His eyes finally found them and he couldn’t help smiling when he saw Nino dwarfed by Aiba and what he guessed as a friend that they would be introduced to. He was too focused on the three that stood not too far from him and walked there without noticing his surroundings, one thing that he should have never done - he accidently crashed someone in front of him.
A yelp was heard and Ohno quickly bowed down, forgetting the wine in his hand and it poured even more on the other’s T-shirt. He finally realized his mistake; he raised his head, ready to apologize when he saw his dream came into reality. He stood there, gapping, as he saw the man wore a scarf he knew too well - the flowery purple scarf wrapped his neck and when he saw the man’s eyes, he got himself mesmerized even more. The big brown eyes, framed by long eyelashes - they reminded him of the goose’s eyes.
“What the…?!! Hey! Watch your step and your eyes?!” Ohno heard the angry tone but he still couldn’t get a grip of himself. He stared at the moving lips in front of him. This man was certainly the most gorgeous man he had ever seen in his entire 22 years life.
His face was sadistic for sure, but the beauty on it was out of senses - he was much too perfect to be described and those fascinating eyes looked at Ohno with wonderful anger. If only Ohno wasn’t too absorbed to those beautiful eyes; he should have fled by now.
“MatsuJun! There you are. Oh, you’ve met Ohno san.” Aiba approached them along with the man he was talking to before.
“Ah, I’m sorry, I am really sorry.” Ohno started mumbling, he couldn’t get his eyes off of those amazing face before him. He forgot where he was and kept looking at the guy as if he was the only one existing in this crowded room.
“What’s wrong with you?! I have been talking to you and you just apologize now? Gosh!” the man kept his annoyed tone, but again, Ohno found it adorable. The man waved his scarf try to clean it and Ohno caught the scent he had been dreaming for the whole week.
“What did you do old man?” Nino grabbed his hand with an empty glass - its content was poured on the lacquered floor, gaining attention from the other guests - perhaps they thought that there was some kind of fight right there.
“I’m so sorry, so sorry,” Ohno tried to clear his head off of the goose and grabbed his handkerchief quickly from his pocket; trying to clean the stained white shirt that man was wearing.
“No! Stop! You’ll spread it even more!” the guy quickly snapped his hand away. The annoyance was clearly shown in his face.
“Matsumoto-san, you’d better take it off before it stains more.” A man that Ohno had never seen before suddenly appeared beside them. Ohno looked at the tall, broad man with the slopping shoulder, wondering who he was.
“I’m sorry Aiba san, I think I’d better go home now, it’s late already. I have photo shoot early tomorrow morning,” The man called Matsumoto bowed a little to the club owner and vastly went to the exit. But Aiba stopped him.
“MatsuJun, please consider my offer, I mean it,” Aiba said quickly and Ohno saw how the angry man still managed to give his smile to him. Somehow, it brought some jealousy sneaked through Ohno, he wanted the smile for himself - well - he would never gain it because he was the culprit of that man’s bad mood.
“I promise I will think about it, Aiba-san, don’t worry.” Matsumoto shook his hand and bowed again before leaving the room towards the exit. Ohno didn’t think much - he ran after the tall man.
“Wait, please, Matsumoto-san? Please wait.” He called the other and managed to catch him when he exited the door. Ohno grabbed his hand but it was quickly snapped away.
“What is it now?!” the man glared at him and if the phrase saying look can kill, Ohno should have been already seven feet under the earth.
“I really am sorry for the shirt and scarf, please let me pay for the laundry or buy you another one. Please.” Ohno said again, hoping this time the man was no longer so mad.
“Do you think there will be a laundry can clean wine stain?” The man angrily pulled off his scarf away and glared at him with the same manner.
“And do you think that you can afford this shirt? It cost you 6 months your salary. Don’t even dream about it!” the man threw his scarf to the gapping Ohno who couldn’t do anything but held the scarf and watched the man walked away. His long jacket swung with his every step.
“I already did…” Ohno whispered softly, holding on the scarf tightly before walking inside the bar, nodding in shame to the guard at the front who had been watching the scene.
He walked in to search his friend, while his head kept on ringing the same question over and over again. Who was that guy, why he had the scarf that he saw in his dreams. And why everything on him reminded him about the goose in his dreams. What was it all mean? Was he the one that would change him? Ohno kept on walking until a slap come from behind of his head.
“Jeezz old man, wake up, would you.” Nino hissed beside him and dragged him to the place where Aiba stood with the man that he didn’t know earlier.
“Aiba-san, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to embarrass you.” Ohno bowed deeply in front of the guy that had hired him and he failed his trust.
“No… no… no… don’t worry about it. MatsuJun has always like that, but he will come around again, don’t worry.” Aiba patted his back and shifted his attention to another guy who stood on his right.
“Let me introduce you to Sakurai Sho, my childhood friend. We’ve been friends since forever.” Aiba chuckled while the man extended his hand to him.
“Aiba didn’t exaggerate when he said he found a raw diamond. You two are great!” That Sakurai guy said while glancing at Nino who blushed deeply beside him.
“Th... thank you, and I’m sorry about your friend shirt earlier.” Ohno said again with the same regret in his voice.
“Oh, Matsumoto is actually Masaki’s friend. I’ve just met him here. Right Masaki?” Sakurai glanced to get another confirmation.
“It was actually the point of having this party, I want to make all my stars together and see how my sky brightens up. I’m sure it will be sparkling, ne Sho?” Aiba still beamed with happiness that Ohno couldn’t understand what it was for.
“You see, Matsumoto Jun is a new coming model and he still hasn’t signed with any talent company or management, that’s why, this guy here has been chasing him to get him into Rakuen, he said that he had seen raw talent in Matsumoto. And of course, I’m smart enough not to ever doubt him. He has a strong sense in this kind of thing.” Sakurai explained his friend with excitement while distributing glasses that came into their table. Ohno wondered how they could be friends when the other was so calm while the other beamed with a lot of energies.
“Well, you can’t blame me, Rakuen is my baby, I will raise it and with you two on my board, I hope we will be success together. What do you think?” Aiba raised his glass to both Ohno and Nino and the two of them could only stare at each other before raising their glasses, finishing it in one gulp
“So, please take care of us from now.” Nino boldly bowed to Aiba. One thing that Ohno had never thought his friend was capable to do. He wished that Matsumoto also agreed to Aiba as easy as they were. He just wanted to get another chance to see that bewildered eyes.
