My hubby and I bingewatched 'Stranger Things' the past couple of days. When it was released in July, I saw a lot of my online friends go nuts over it. So we decided to finally check it out ( Read more... )

FACTS has become more like a yearly guilty pleasure to us now. Call it tradition :)
We don't buy as much merchandise as we used to, 'cause holy fuckballs, most of the prices have become insane.

For example: we were interested in the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo 3DS a merchant was selling. Since it's a platinum (Nintendo Essentials they call it) game, the normal store price is around 20 euro. The guy tried charging us 40 euro for it... When I confronted him about his pricing, he just blew us off.

Another merchant had some boxed PVC figures I was interested in, but had the price stickers on the back of the boxes... on his shelves... behind him... out of arm's reach... le sigh.
When I asked to check out a couple of them, my knees went weak. 275 euro he asked for this one:

Normal price: 115 euro -_-
I politely gave him the boxes back, while shaking my head.

Other highlights:

- Snagged a couple of nice Legend of Zelda T-shirts for Leen and a cute Pixar shirt for our daughter.
- Passed by the KBC stand to make a 360° picture, which was a cool experience.
- Saw Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (I had to copy-paste that, I confess), the actor who plays The Mountain on Game of Thrones. Was surprised he's only 27 years old and actually stutters. The guy broke a 1000 years old Viking record, by taking 5 steps with a 650 kg log on his shoulders! Insane.
- Was surprised to see 3 young teenagers cosplay as Gert, Alberto Vermicelli and the Mayor from the kids show "Samson & Gert" together, they put a smile on everyone's faces.
- So. many. Suicide. Squad. Harley. Quinn. cosplays. Jesus. make. it. stop.

How was your experience at FACTS?

P.S.: And I agree completely on making the most of your free time, when the baby's asleep. Gotta keep sane, after all ;)

Holy balls indeed, that's some crazy mark-up prices.

FACTS and Made in Asia are our guilty pleasures, tho we rarely buy stuff there. Our FACTS experience was pretty good. It was the first time that we took our baby boy to a big event like this. Gotta start them off young ;)
When we arrived, he fell asleep for an hour, given us time to check out the different vendors. After that, we took turns holding him. He loved it. There was so much for him to look at.

I didn't quite get to check out the vendors in as much detail as I might've looked. But honestly, I think this was the first year where I had no intention on buying anything. We were on the look-out for Overwatch Funko's. My hubby LOVES Overwatch but much to our surprise, none of the vendors had Overwatch Funko's. They had Funko's for pretty much everything else but not Overwatch.
Speaking of Overwatch, this was one of my favourite cosplayers that I spotted :

I think everyone copy-pastes his name XD
He is ONLY 27 YEARS OLD?!?! I thought he was older, like in his 30's or something. He did look like a really friendly guy. I got to see him and the other guests in the guest area. Couldn't resist checking them out. I was actually surprised that NO ONE was queuing at Nicolas Brandon's booth. I would've thought lots of (Buffy) fans would want his autograph.

I know >___< The amount of Suicide Squad Harley Quinns and Jokers was nuts. What bothered me the most was that none of them actually looked any good.

Oh and we also learned a valuable lesson : Always bring spare pants for the baby with us.

We always have an extra onesie and T-shirt for him in case he regurgitates or something. But whilst we took turns carrying him in our arms (so he could SEE ALL THE THINGS), he had a little 'accident' and we realized that we had nothing to cover his legs afterwards >__<
