Chapter 3

“Uh…Mr. Johnny…?”

“Yes?”

“We are getting neverending phone calls of…complaints…” The soldier looked a bit uneasy.

“Regarding?”

“Well, after the weapons had been revealed…some people want to take back their bets and…”

“Tell them all one thing…” Mr. Johnny gave a small malicious smile. “Welcome to Vegas.”

“Yes sir.”

Mr. Johnny turned back as he focused upon the television screens with a satisfied smile. After all, once the bets have been set, viewers all over the country have no choice but to watch this game of life or death…seeing if their boy will become the ending survivor. Of course Mr. Johnny didn’t care who really won at the end…as long as the ratings were sufficiently high and that a large number of people had placed bets…he was satisfied.

Boy #10, Maruyama Ryuhei from Kanjani8 was currently located in the back lot of Main Street. He was amused at the things he found there as he walked by huge parade floats, admiring statues and monuments of his favorite pastime cartoons. Maruyama stopped in front of the Lion King float as he clapped his hands with glee, climbing on top of the float as he got on Simba’s back. He always wanted to ride a lion…even if it was fake.

Yet the joy had not lasted very long as Maruyama finally gained back his senses, remembering the actual reason why he was there in the first place. He gave a small sigh as he hated the thought of this ‘game’ of killing his friends yet he could not predict what went through his friends’ minds. Considering that they were in a situation to fight for their lives…Maruyama didn’t want to die.

The boy reluctantly got off of Simba as he sat beside the lion, leaning against the fake furry back. He then grabbed his bag as he looked in; feeling a bit famished from the sudden shock and fear that took place in his stomach. Yet he couldn’t help but notice something funny…strange…random…

“Eh?” Maruyama took out the object as he stared at it with disbelief. He couldn’t help but throw small fits of laughter…because it was all too funny. “I can’t believe it…HAH…I just CAN’T believe it…”

Maruyama amusingly twirled a thong with his index finger. The weapon itself was practically a joke. He had no idea what possible use it can be for unless he used it as a…

“Slingshot!” Maruyama brightened at the thought as he looked around him. He noticed a pile of rocks that were part of the Lion King float as Maruyama began to collect the rocks, stuffing them into his bag, only to notice something else to catch his eyes.

“WOW!” Maruyama’s eyes expanded in amazement as he noticed a closet filled with costumes. He looked through the costumes, finding familiar characters as he rummaged through. Maruyama took out a Donald duck costume as he tried to wear it, only to realize that he was too tall.

Maruyama then turned to the Goofy costume as he wore it. The costume was a bit too big for him but it was wearable. Maruyama smiled as he looked at himself in the mirror wishing he could trick someone into thinking that he was Goofy.

Then reality hit him once more as he gave a small sigh.

It was DEFINITELY NOT the time to be Goofy.

In the northern part of Critter Country, Boy # 30, Yaotome Hikaru form Ya-Ya-Yah, hesitantly roamed around cautiously. He hugged his bag closely against his chest as he noticed a huge ship located in the water. Hikaru thought that he may be a safe place to hide as he ran towards the ship, turning his head from side to side in case he saw someone beforehand.

However the ship had no walkway from the grounds. It was connected to the dock through a rope, yet there was no actual platform to get on the ship. Hikaru bit his lips slightly, wondering how he would be able to get on to the ship. The boy decided that the only way to get on was by climbing the rope that prevented the ship from drifting. Hikaru securely placed the bag upon his back like a backpack as he began to climb up the rope. He felt as if he was in physical education all over again.

Hikaru had finally reached the boat as he began to climb up a ladder that led up to the dock, yet halfway up; his foot slipped upon a step piece as the handle slowly broke from his fingers, causing the boy to fall backwards into the water.

“ARGH!” Hikaru cried out in frustration as he attempted to swim back towards the rope, only to feel something caught on to his leg. Hikaru frowned as he took a huge breath and sunk under water, only to see that his foot had got caught on an underwater net. Hikaru tried to pry the sharp pin that connected the net from the hem of his pants as it clung on to him tightly, yet the poor boy was having a difficult time. He then reached his head back upwards towards the surface as he gasped for air, practically drowning.

Hikaru then took another gasp of breath as he returned underwater, trying his second attempt to free himself from this underwater hell.

Boy #13, Nakamaru Yuichi had heard and seen it all. He had heard the loud BOOM that had taken place earlier as his mind died with curiosity wondering if any deaths had taken place, or better yet, if anyone was actually out of their right mind to play in the game.

But the thing that surprised him most…the thing that he refused to believe…was the sight of his once good friend, Akanishi Jin, to point a gun at another human being. Nakamaru had a hard time erasing the image from his mind as he watched the whole scene from afar. Once Jin had pulled the trigger and Subaru sunk to the floor, Nakamaru couldn’t help but watch as he friend sprinted off. Of course it was natural instinct for Nakamaru to run off and attempt to follow his friend, yet the idea was abandoned halfway through the silent chase.

He didn’t know if he could trust Jin anymore.

After all, they were close with Subaru…working with him and the other Kanjani8 members for the Dream Boy Musical…and the idea of Jin actually having the nerve to shoot the other boy made Nakamaru feel immensely nervous.

Nakamaru decided to hide in the tea cup ride in Fantasyland as he went into a random cup. He kept his head down as he looked through his bag, being curious of what weapon he had received. The boy rummaged through the bag only to find a long lead pipe. Nakamaru frowned.

“Are you serious?” Nakamaru could not imagine himself hurting another human being. He then closed off his bag as he curled in the tea cup thinking of his friends. He couldn’t help but remember Kame’s last sad smile that he had given him before he left the room. “Kame…are you safe? Koki…are you safe? Ueda…are you safe? Junno…are you safe? Jin…HAH…I know he’s safe…”

“Jin…” Nakamaru bit his lips sadly. “Why Jin…”

Boy #12, Matsumoto Jun concealed himself within Tarzan’s tree house located in Adventureland. The boy had climbed to the top as he peered over from high grounds, seeing if he could post anyone. MatsuJun took one look around as he sat on a hammock, looking into his bag to see what weapon he had received. The boy’s eyes expanded as he looked at his weapon with relief and fear. He was relieved because he knew that he would be able to protect himself, but he was in fear because this was for real.

MatsuJun picked up the pistol in his hand as he examined the weapon carefully, touching an actual gun for the first time. He looked in his bag to see boxes of extra ammo as the sight of the weapon caused his heart to beat very fast as his heart began to debate.

He wanted to live. He wanted to live so badly. And he also wanted to survive.

“Is…death…no…is killing…the only way?” MatsuJun looked at the gun as it weighed heavily in his hands.

MatsuJun was probably considered one of the hottest men on earth. After all, he appeared in so many dramas, shows; females would practically kill each other just to have a strand of his hair. He had this air of hotness that just make girls faint and swoon over. And of course not to mention the fact that he is indeed the most popular one from Arashi. Despite the fact that he is indeed the youngest from the group, he makes the other guys look like nobodies.

MatsuJun frowned as he looked out of the tree house, his eyes roaming around the theme park.

“I want to win.”

Uchi Hiroki, boy #25, was quite out of breath. He silently gasped for air as he took a seat amongst the trees. He took out his bottle of water as he began to drink out of it, only to notice a particular surprising object in his bag.

“Whoa!” Uchi’s eyes widened. “It’s Myojo!”

Uchi took out the magazine as he began to skim through it, his small smile turning into a huge frown.

“Hey…” Uchi pouted slightly. “I-I’m not even in it! Why the hell would you put in a recent issue? Freaking dumbasses…”

Uchi tossed the magazine inside as he began to rummage in his bag “Hm…I wonder what my weapon is…”

The boy froze as he stared blankly at the thrown magazine placed beside him.

“You have GOT to be kidding me.”

Nishikido Ryo, boy #15, had finally reached a conclusion.

He would play the game.

Ryo thought about it. It didn’t really take him that long to think and come with a conclusion, but in the end, he thought it was better for himself. After all, Nishikido Ryo did consider himself to be the hottest man alive…even if he is indeed short. He didn’t need the other guys. All the other guys do but existing was serving as competition. Ryo didn’t need competition…he didn’t need to the other guys…all he needed was himself.

And Ryo was definitely not a loser. The word ‘loser’ definitely did not exist in his word bank. He was born to win and to win only. Ryo would not take losing as an answer when it came to this game.

The boy looked into his bag, praying that he had received a gun of some sort…yet gave a small disappointed grunt.

“A sword?” Ryo frowned slightly as he pulled the sheath off of the blade, seeing the edge of the blade shine in the sunlight. He concluded that the sword wasn’t too bad…after all…he did take some kendo classes once before.

Ryo secured the sword around his waist as he began to head out, searching for prey.

Boy #21, Taguchi Junnosuke of KATTUN sat near the entrance of Space Mountain as he leaned against an empty wall, tired from running. He sat as he breathed rather heavily, staring at his surroundings as the boy slowly began to think.

Junno was definitely one who had problems in the past. Yet he would always cover it up with his dazzling smiles, indicating to all the people in the world that he was alright and perfect. But of course that was not true. Junno had it tough in the entertainment industry. Only for the sole purpose that once you’ve entered Johnny’s Jimusho…it’s nothing but competition.

In order to receive recognition, Junno would do his best in everything as he would excel in his back flips, start learning tap dancing, and recently began learning the drums. Yet talent alone was not enough. Junno needed personality. In order to create that personality he created a whole naïve ‘stupid’ character of himself in order to gain attention and make others laugh.

To be bluntly honest, Junno did not trust the other boys. He would always greet them with friendly smiles and hold light conversations with them, yet he couldn’t help but consider all of them to be his rivals.

There was one boy that Junno didn’t mind killing. He knew that it was horrible of himself to think that way, but that boy, that one particular person had at one point in his life, made him to be miserable. So miserable to the fact that Junno just couldn’t stand it anymore.

That person was Akanishi Jin.

Junno shook his head. Even though the actual opportunity of killing had landed in his hands, he couldn’t possibly have himself to commit such a deed…after all…Junno did hold some kindness within his heart…some sweetness. Yet the old times of his constant arguments and fights with Jin, Junno couldn’t help but remember the scars and grudges he held within his heart. And the fact that Jin had always won these fights and arguments made him even angrier.

The boy shook off the thought as he grabbed his bag. He unzipped it as he took a look inside. He began to rummage through it…only to see a sharp pointy object from the corner of his eyes.

Taguchi Junnosuke immediately jumped from his seat as he took a step back, only to see Nishikido Ryo standing before him…holding onto a very long sword.

“Ni-Nishikido!” Junno cried out in surprise as his eyes expanded at the sight of the sword.

“Yo.” Ryo greeted as he firmly pointed the sword at Junno.

Junno looked at the sword nervously as sweat began to appear on his face. He slowly took a step back…only to his horror, Ryo took a step forward.

“W-What do you think y-you’re doing?” Junno felt his voice stutter.

“What does it look like I’m doing?” Ryo gave a small smirk.

“Y-You shouldn’t role play Final Fantasy! You know those games aren’t real…you know…”

“You’re one to talk. Whenever we play video games, I can always hear you screaming at people to die…”

Junno bit his lips nervously as his hands clutched tightly on to his bag. He then slowly began to unzip his bag from behind and began to rummage through it as he continued to keep eye contact with Ryo.

“Don’t move!” Ryo stared sternly at Junno. “I can see your hands perfectly. Drop the bag.”

Junno hesitated as he refused to drop the bag.

“If you don’t drop it…I’ll slice you up…” Ryo threatened.

Junno immediately dropped the bag.

Ryo walked over towards the bag, keeping the sword at a good distance away from Junno as Junno stood quite still. The Osaka boy grabbed the bag as he unzipped it with one hand, keeping the other hand firmly around the sword. Ryo did not take his eyes off of Junno as he rummaged through Junno’s bag, only to find a…

“I always knew you were a closet NEWS fan…” Ryo smirked as he revealed a NEWS Uchiwa. “…weren’t you Junno?”

Junno let out a sigh of relief and disappointment. He was relieved because it wasn’t some dangerous weapon as a gun…because he would never forgive himself if Ryo would run off with such a weapon with high advantage. Yet he was disappointed for if was indeed alone, to receive a weapon such as an Uchiwa? It was horribly disappointing.

“No, I wasn’t.” Junno replied bluntly. “And you can have that.”

“I did come out pretty hot on here, didn’t I?” Ryo smiled as he stared at his part of the Uchiwa.

“You look the same.”

Ryo gave a small scowl. “Admit it…you know I’m hot.”

“…” Junno didn’t like where this conversation was going.

“People like you aren’t necessary…” Ryo kept his eyes on Junno. “…because you cannot succumb to my hotness…after all, there is only room for one pretty boy on this earth…”

Taguchi Junnosuke took a step back. He wanted to run away.

“So…there is one way to fulfill that…I’m sure you’re quite well aware how…” Ryo pointed the sword leveled with Junno’s torso.

“Just…die.”

Ryo took a swing, only for Junno to dodge it. The Osaka boy turned around to attempt another swing, only for Junno to grab an isolated trash can beside him. He rolled the trash can towards Ryo, as Ryo took time to dodge it. During the time Ryo took to dodge the rolling trash can, Junno immediately grabbed his bag as he used his long legs to sprint off.

Ryo began to sprint after the taller boy, but in the end Junno was just too fast.

Nishikido Ryo’s short legs were definitely no match for Junno’s tall legs.

As for the Uchiwa…Junno decided that Ryo could just have it, if Ryo thought he was THAT hot…

Boy #20, Shingo Murakami of Kanjani8 debated where the go next. He was currently in front of the entrance of Aladdin’s palace as he looked around the area of Adventureland, wondering if he could find any of his friends. Shingo hated the idea of being forced into such a horrid game such as this. He had no intentions of killing his friends or would even consider such an intention.

Shingo frowned as he noticed a camera hanging from a ceiling upon a wall. He glared at the camera as he stuck out his middle finger, flicking the camera off.

“Um yeah, Mickey, that was for you.”

Shingo then turned away from the camera was he began to walk down the walkway, only to hear a huge shot from the air, only to realize a huge pain forming upon his back. Shingo immediately dropped on to the ground, concluding to the fact that someone had indeed shot him from behind. He pretended to act as if he was dead as one question screamed in his mind.

Just who was the fucker who shot him?

Matsumoto Jun peered down from the tree house as he reloaded his pistol. He stared blankly at Shingo’s lifeless body, confirming that the older boy was dead. His hands shook violently. It was his first time ever to pull a trigger yet the boy continuously told himself that it was for his own good. MatsuJun never held any grudges towards Shingo Murakami…it was just for the sake of this game…

He had to win this game.

But little did he know that Shingo was still alive. Shingo Murakami continued to lie on the ground, hoping that the fucker who shot him had finally left and decided to bother some other prey. He was rather grateful that he had worn the bullet proof vest that was given to him as a weapon. Initially Shingo wore it for fun, wondering how it felt to be like a police man, walking around in a bullet proof vest. He just thanked god that he did not remove the vest for apparently it saved his life greatly.

The thing that bothered Shingo the most was to learn that fact that someone out there…someone from the 31 one boys who were possibly alive had chosen to participate in this demonic game. It saddened Shingo greatly to learn this fact for he couldn’t help but cringe at the possibility that the person who shot him form behind may very well be one of the members of Kanjani8.

Shingo shook his head from the thought. He refused to think so. He loved the Kansai boys too much. They practically were all brothers…he couldn’t imagine any of them to have any intention or adrenaline to kill…but then it wasn’t in Shingo’s position to think so…

After all, people have the ability to change. They also have the ability to make choices. Those two options scared Shingo. Because this game was definitely something that had the ability to cause a person to change and make either the right or wrong choices.

It was also a game that can drive a person crazy…and possibly mad.
