Today is the last day of the Spring Awakening tour. I can't even really describe what Spring Awakening means to me, only that it's been a definition, a discovery, an exploration. Only that gives me songs to sing in fits of teen angst. Only that it makes me think. Only that it reminds me to grow strong and tall.

"You won't remember the words you said, but they will be important. You won't remember the words you heard, but they will sink into your bones."

(Possibly my two favorite sentences from this. Or like, ever.)

"...you will find the secrets of the universe in the catch of his calloused fingers against yours."

(I love "in the catch of his calloused fingers." I LOVE IT.)

"You will wonder, in small and quiet moments, where Melchior is. You won't be able to imagine him as anything but great. You will think of him with a book in his hand like he always had, pen tucked into his pocket to scribble something down. You will try to picture him walking up the street, but he was always too big for this small town. He never could blend in like he was supposed to."

(Aaaah, Anna's thoughts on Melch are perfect. Very concise, and perfect. ALSO, I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE. With "You will wonder, in small and quite moments..." and "There will be moments, small and quiet..." <3 ( ... )

Knock, knock. Yeah, it's me. The Broadway hater. But for once, I'm going to set aside my animosity for theatre to deliver an adulation worthy of this sublime piece. Of course, I would have a much better comprehension of this powerful vignette if I actually watched the play, but that is as likely as me suddenly hating blueberry muffins. Yeah, not going to happen, but alas I digress ( ... )

Oh my goodness.

I think this is one of the most uplifting Spring Awakening fanfics I have EVER read. Most of them prefer to delve on the dark side and I understand that- the story had many dark themes. But it’s so good to see something that has the soaring feeling I get whenever I hear ‘The Song of Purple Summer’

Moritz and Wendla will sit with you, both inside you and out, their reflections in the glass. You will be with them, alongside them, for them.

You'll see Wendla's heart reflected in your wife's smile, in secretive glances passed between children. You'll see the long days of summer spent with Moritz in your daughter's eyes, the curls of her hair, in her dimpled cheeks.

I LOVE these. The first quotes gives me goosebumps with the images and I love how the second reminds me of the ‘I’ll never let them go/not gone/not gone’ lines during ‘Those You’ve Known’. I love how he looks into the mirror and sees himself AND them.

The cold will go through your skin and into your blood, your heart, the very center of you. And yet the sun ( ... )
