i've got the window open and i'm watching Signs.

i'm so glad it's summer. i've been waiting patiently for it trying not to mind the cold. telling myself that it'll eventually end. it wasn't until this sweltering weather finally arrived that i realized how much i missed it. i love you summer. it should be spring now, though. virginia has a season like spring, but this year it seems to have skipped this state. :\ well it's only the beginning of april so perhaps we still have a chance to have a little milder weather before the heatwave sets in.

i've been enjoying opening the window at nights and watching movies. i was in a stupid movie kick watching zoolander and talladega nights, but now i'm just wanting to rewatch movies i enjoyed but have forgotten. i'm remember now why signs is so good.

so the 'bean and i have been doing well. oh yeah, and dad too. one thing of note since my last post is that i got divorced in the eyes of the american court system. because of the lawyer i had it went very smoothly and i've already worked on getting child custody and am now waiting for a court date to be sent to me. supposed to be around may or june and i'm looking forward to this being completed so that i can get asuka's passport. when i do, i'd like to go to japan and submit my japanese divorce papers. it would've been easier had i done that before i even left japan, but i can't start regretting my decisions now or i'll just become more pathetic. it's time to move on and this is how i'm gonna do it.

asuka is now 13 months. she still falls over but walks around everywhere. she can eat more kinds of solid foods, and she babbles a lot while sorta making words. they're a bit difficult to decipher at this moment, but she talks... a lot. she's also figured out how to use a straw, which is convenient because then she can drink from any kind of cup. she already knows how to drink from a cup regularly so when she's able to actually hold up a cup herself then she's good to go.

everyday she looks a little more like a mini-person particularly in the way she looks around, moves, and she definitely is more expressive. she loves water bottles and every time she sees one she heads straight for it. earlier she was quite frustrated at dad's water bottle because there was so much water in it that she had trouble holding on to it. she has gotten good at taking things out from somewhere like boxes or cabinets, but recently she's learned how to put something into something else. that is an impressive feat imo and one that i rarely see. she also likes to hold an object in each hand and bang them together. we'll go outside and she heads straight for the rock garden, picks up a rock in each hand, bangs them together then she'll consider moving on.

we hung out with the struss family for easter out in reedville. they set up an easter egg hunt for her which she couldn't quite get the point of. haha! we had a wonderful dinner of ham and enjoyed each others company. good times were had.

john and i have also been getting together to watch dexter. omg, i love that show but how dare they do that to us!! i shall reveal nothing, but if you haven't seen dexter then go watch it now! i bet you'll enjoy it... assuming you don't mind the whole serial killer thing. lol

we've also been into baking. it started when john needed to make a cake and wanted to try out julie's black russian. that led to another chocolate cake, to me baking cookies, and then cupcakes. i'd like to attempt a red velvet cupcake but there are a ton of recipes and i'm not sure which one to start with first....

so much time has passed since my last post that i'm sure i'm forgetting to mention something. i just can't be bothered to blog recently. i think twitter and facebook kind of make it troublesome to write everything out this way. sad, really.
