Horsies!

I've decided I should try to find a horse to lease to learn more about jumping on. Something that is really point and shoot, to pack me around the arena. I am a beginner and also a chicken so it would really help if I could find an experienced horse to gain confidence on.

I'm currently taking a beginning jumping class at OSU but that's going to be over with soon. I want to take lessons although a good jumping barn is hard to find, let alone a good jumping barn with good school horses. I would like to lease just to have some familiarity and to have a horse to take to some small shows over the summer etc so I'll feel ready to jump for IHSA next year.

Jumping a horse- scary. Jumping a horse that you've never ridden before that probably doesn't know what it's doing- terrifying. And exactly what happens at zone 8 region 4 shows. So I need a lot of mileage in the saddle before I take that on.

I like THIS horse. http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=901436 I emailed them about him. Not sure if they'd want to keep him in Portland or if they'd be willing to let me cart him off to Philomath, or at least Eugene anyway.

And the lack of jumpers in Oregon is pretty appalling. We always have an awful time finding people to donate decent jumpers for IHSA shows. Apparently on the East coast that's a piece of cake but they have shitty Western horses. But somehow I don't think a shitty western horse is as dangerous as a shitty hunter/jumper.

Bleh. I can't really afford this, but we'll try.
