Still, she had disappointed him by saying nothing whatever about returning with his shield or on it. He had privately primed himself for a beautiful scene. He had prepared certain sentences which he thought could be used with touching effect. But her words destroyed his plans.
I find it strange that I've not read The Red Badge of Courage before today, so I'm digging in. Life is getting weirder, as I leave the strangely "Manassas-y" NoVA campus and move on to GMU. I'm just waiting for my grades to post then I'll never have to go back to their website again. The last thing to do is call the Alexandria bookstore and see if they'll buy back my HIS-101 (& 102) book. I've been on college campuses before, but none as daunting as Mason's. At VCU there are a billion buildings but they are spread out across a third of the city so they just kind of blend in. GWU is sort of the same way, at least in that there are no real "boundaries" between the city and the campus. Mason is huge though, and there are buildings everywhere. You have to actually drive into the campus and wander aimlessly till you find your place. There's a fraking lake with a nature trail that separates the parking lot from the main campus! I got similarly lost at JMU, but always had a guide or a bunch of maps directing me to some show. Its not weird if you don't have to go back 200 times. Though, the more time I spend there I'm sure I'll figure out what I'm doing. That and about half of the people I know who went to college went to Mason. Its just weird your first week.
At least three of my four classes are all in the same building, all in a row. On the same floor, even. Robinson Hall B, rooms 224, 201 and 222. I'm hoping at the moment that I wont get swamped with writing a ton of writing, but I'm sure it'll all balance out. I'm working the weekends during the semester though, so don't expect to see me out much.
Christmas is right around the corner, and aside from 2 things I just need to go pick up when I have time, I'm done with my shopping. It was easier this year than ones in the recent past, though I'm not sure why. We have a real tree up again, one that seems to suck up a glass of water in about 10 minutes. Next year I'm getting a bigger stand with a bucket at the bottom! Ours is all droopy already. Its quite neat to look at though, and it makes the living room smell fantastic! Plus the cat likes to sleep under it. Awwwwwwwwww!
There's supposed to be an ice storm today, but I don't see it coming. I think we'll get some rain and that's it. I was totally caught off guard when we got snow before christmas for the first time in my lifetime (that I can recall) so that was kind of weird.
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this. Maybe I'm just saying hi.
So Hi.
my boring life,
school,
holidays are fun!
