Urgh, I miss Dan so much. He's in Orlando, Florida on a family vacation right now. Most of all, I hope his parents don't find out that he wears earrings. I told him to take a small pair of studs with him and just wear them when asleep, but I'm always scared that his parents will somehow discover that he's had his ears pierced. Granted, Dan is a 21 year old adult who can make his own decisions about his body, but I can still imagine his parents trying to ground him for wearing earrings. However, he's sharing a room with his sister, and I believe she already knows his secret. Luckily she's gotten past what I call the "Stoolpigeon Phase," aka the phase where the younger sibling will blab just about any secret to his/her parents to get attention. I really hope he has a nice vacation in spite of having to be with his family. Family vacations are always tedious and unpleasant, mainly because you're forced to go to someplace you don't want to with a group of people that you don't really want to share a room with. (The main thing I remember about the only family vacation I've ever gone on, ironically to Orlando, Florida as well, is that my parents bitched and fought and Disneyworld was pretty boring.)
But after Dan's family vacation hell comes to an end, we get to go to A-Kon for all three days! I'm even going in drag: I'll be dressed as Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist. I tried to pursuade Dan to go as Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop, but he didn't have enough time or money to make his costume. What's even better, though, is that my mother is renting us a hotel room, meaning that we actually get to sleep in the same bed! (When I stay at Dan's house, his parents won't allow this, despite the fact that a) we've been living together for a year b) we've been going out for 3 years c) we're both adults and, of course, d) it's not the motherfucking 1950s, Goddammit! Sorry for the coarse language, but that really pisses me off. It totally bites ass that I can't sleep next to the man I love, the same man that I sleep next to every single night, just because I don't have a damn marriage certificate. Appox on their conventional attitude towards premarital sex!) Anyway, I'm really looking foward to A-Kon. Despite my constant lack of funds, I managed to squirrel away $30 for buying stuff and $20 for food. Plus, I get to see my parents again. Believe it or not, I really do like spending time with them, although I certainly wouldn't like to live with either one of them, because I value my freedom.
I'll try and post an update on Dan's vacation hell sometime next week, but now, I'm going to eat dinner.
