Recovering

So last Monday, I went to the oral surgeon and got my wisdom tooth extracted. But instead of just taking out the one on my lower left side, the dentist said I should get the one on top too. Otherwise, it would be difficult for my lower gums to heal. >< So, I got both of them extracted. He also took another x-ray with this really cool x-ray machine that basically could give a wide angle look of all sides of my mouth. So I saw all 4 of the wisdom teeth, including the ones they were gonna take out. I was mostly afraid of my nerves being too close to the bottom one. But the dentist said that it wasn't that close so they wouldn't have a problem taking the bottom one out. That was a relief to hear.

After numbing my gums, they proceeded with the operation. They didn't bother putting me to sleep. xD I kind of can't believe I stayed awake for the whole thing. They had to pretty much break up the impacted wisdom tooth into small little pieces to get it out. So I could hear the dentist cracking and twisting the tooth. It was not pleasant to hear, that's for sure. And then I also had to endure the pain of the teeth being pulled out. It was unbearable but like I said it wasn't exactly pleasant either. I just kept wondering when it'd be over.

Afterwards, there was blood all inside my mouth. I wanted to spit it out but they said I had to swallow it instead. Apparently, spitting would interrupt the healing process or something. In the end, I left the dentist office with a piece of gauze in my mouth and a little pamphlet with post-extraction instructions. The whole left side of my mouth was swollen, too. Got some medicine to ease the pain and some antibiotics. The first few days were tough, especially because I had to stick to liquid/soft foods. Of course, it was great timing since my dad decided to go and order thai food and subs for dinner and lunch. XD Luckily, my mom made me some delicious lugao, the Filipino version of congee/okayu.

So, that's 2 down - 2 more to go. I probably won't get the last two out until after the hols though.

Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do in LJ. I've been somewhat keeping up but have just been too lazy to post. But I'm back now.
