This excerpt from the Hound of the Baskervilles sounds like it was written directly to me in reference to my life so far:
"Learn then from this story not to fear the fruits of the past, but rather to be circumspect in the future, that these foul passions whereby our family has suffered so grievously may not again be loosed to our undoing."
A serious statement, to be taken seriously to my heart. My family has seen enough grief and I have to live with an eye to the future, which is hard for me since I tend to try not to think of the future at all. I guess part of growing up means realizing there are other people in the world and what you do really affects them.
