SmartCar passes EPA hurdle
Nov 22, 2004 19:19
The US Environmental Protection Agency has approved the 60mpg Smart Car for sale in the US. The agency issued a certificate of conformity to the car, which has been selling in Europe for several years, clearing the way for the Smart to be sold in the US by ZAP, a marketer of alternative-energy vehicles and electric scooters.
, as reported by Jalopnik, quoting
Yahoo News, which also says that "The SMART car goes on display to the public for the first time at The San Francisco International Auto Show, open to consumers November 21-28 at The Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco."
I don't have an epa.gov link handy.
(Though I did find
After Extensive Analysis, EPA Removes Chemicals from Lists of Regulated Pollutants
, which isn't nearly as broad in scope as it sounds at first...)
