Upgrading from Windows Vista Business to Windows XP Pro

I finally did it. I've been wanting to "upgrade" this laptop to Windows XP Pro. Despite having what was necessary to run Vista, supposedly, it was pokey. It was a Gateway with 2 Gb of Memory, Vista would have nicely eaten 4Gb if it had the chance. I had turned off all the fancy graphics crap, putting it in a mode where it basically looked like Windows 95 in terms of graphics...still bloat. Copying a single small file shouldn't take 5 minutes with the spinning pointer of death.

I had to use a program called nLite to go fetch the Hard Drive drivers so that XP would recognize them. Gateway nicely had the XP versions available - they probably had a number of people "upgrade" as I had. Once I got that all figured out and a new install disk burned, it worked like a charm.
