Here's what I think:
Halloween is not really a holiday that has any real meaning. To me, it's just a day for people to dress up in costumes and eat candy. Whatevs man. We don't even celebrate this in the Philippines. We did have All Souls Day where we go to the cemeteries and visit the graves of love ones. No one does that here. I actually had nice memories (from when I was little) when my family would visit our deceased relatives/ancestors and pray for them. It was a peaceful ceremony. Of course, since it's a Filipino thing, there's gotta be food. And I mean GOOD, home-cooked Filipino dishes.
I guess the only thing Halloween is good for is that it gets kids excited about the costumes, candy, etc. I mean I like candy, too. It's just that I think this "holiday" is a bit pointless. Why not just go to the store and buy your own candy to eat? At least then, you can pick out your favorites and you're almost always sure that it's safe to eat. Oh wellz.
Happy hunting anyway for those going out tonight trick-or-treating. AND PLEASE STAY SAFE!!!
I'm off to work. I think I'll go to the store and buy myself a couple bags of chocolates. I'll probably need to give some out at the store anyway.
