Since people want to vent, I'm making a separate post to keep it centralized. I would also like to state from the start, that as is the norm here, you don't have to agree with someone's comment, you can debate with them even, but you do have to respect them and allow them their opinion

Social media does really have a huge impact on celebrities' careers. See what happened to Amanda Bynes after she got a twitter? It is a big deal, especially right now when he's at a really transitional point in his career and this could really help determine whether people take him seriously or not.
It is the determining factor of his career? Of course not. But it does matter. Part of what Zac really has going for him is he has a great image, and a good reputation as a nice, likeable human being and to see someone running his twitter in such a sloppy and inane way is really frustrating.

Fair enough, but honestly it will only get worse lol. I think it has the potential to become really bad and unless something changes it could be damaging, which is more what people are upset about I think. That and the spamming lol.

I agree that sometimes the Zac fandom can be overreactive (trust me, I've been here a long time and had many a discussion about people freaking out, I'm usually the one telling people to chill out lol) but this time I do think it is warranted. Totally fine if you disagree, but for me it is a problem.
The condom thing was hilarious, I loved it. And sometimes the "hardcore" fans are just insane tbh lol.

lol i love this.
i do think they are trying to find a happy medium. but there are some basic things that should or shouldn't be done. like not twittering in first person. i would say don't follow randoms, don't retwitter fawning fans or encourage begging. and maybe most importantly, do a little research about your subject, their audience, and the existing market.

The 3rd person POV might be dull but at least it does not impersonate Zac. When they tweet in first person, only a tiny percentage will know it's run by his team. Everyone else will think it's him. And that's the problem to me. That person running his twitter will create a public image of him based on those vapid tweets. She talks like a 16-year-old teenager but it surely doesn't create a professional image of an actor who wants to transition out of this status and be taken serious. That's my main issue with 1st person tweets. People who don't know Zac really well (ie 99.9% of his followers) will believe it's him and think he's boring and obnoxious.
Also, Zac said many times he wants to keep some mystery about him and thinks this is important. Running the twitter in 1st person will totally undermine this.
