TLO Release Date Thoughts

Aug 27, 2011 14:30

I don't know what to say. I'm stuck in a bemused place of frustration, embarrassment, disappointment and indifference.

The more ranty section )

schedule, release date, essay, dead projects, the lucky one

I'm already "over" this. Yesterday I ranted all I could and now all I can say is that I've never been more whatever about this movie than I am right now.

Anyway, on maybe better news, isn't WB suppose to start production on that Snabba Cash remake soon? I thoughtthe deadline was April 2012.

Let's hope the rightsholders either give them an extension or there are other provisions in the contract because right now, I'm not super optimistic that WB will move it into production by next spring.

Imo Zac has been moving too slow with his transition (and TLO is part of that) for WB to do this right now. It happens more often than not that rights expire although I was hoping it wouldn't be the case with this project.

Yeah, it's still possible but personally I don't think it's very likely at this point (if they have to keep the original date).

Oh, thanks!

As if I needed another reason to not like WB right now, lol

If they move forward to start production next spring, we should hear about a director coming on board by the end of fall at the latest imo. Not that a director is automatically a guarantee it will happen but that would be a good sign.

Yeah I'm pretty over it. I really toned it down because I don't want to make people angry or ruin their enthusiasm but I really am. Pessimistic (and probably over-reacting right now out of my annoyance) but honestly I'd be fine if it went straight-to-dvd at this point. And that sucks cause I love Zac and I want to be excited for something new of his, but what has anyone involved with this film given me to be excited over ( ... )

I mean fine, his ass will be half-visible in this, he'll be shirtless in all his muscly glory. Whoop-de-do. That's great and all, it's never a chore to look at him half naked. But all the same, I'd really be happy not seeing his skin at all if it means seeing him in a good film and getting respect. A good film with a good script and director. With good and strong co-stars. Hopefully that is what we're getting with these indies.

SECONDED!

Honestly, my main problem with TLO is that it was the first movie he did after CstC and I thought that was such a bad move. But now, since the movie will take so long to be released, I actually think this could be better? IDK, I'm just trying to find something good out of this.

As you said, I think there is a high chance one of his indies will go to a festival before TLO is released so maybe most critics/producers/directors/etc will just think "oh, that movie Efron did before taking better roles" and shrug it off, you know? Not hold it against Zac. I'm just too hopeful lol.

I'm really glad he is busy right now (and doing good stuff !!!!!) but at the same time I worry about what he will do next. This is like when he shoot 17 Again/MAOW/HSM3 and then stayed a long time on vacation and dnw that again... I know he has Die in a Gunfight, Countryman and maybe Snabba Cash but who knows when those movies will happen and he might have to fill the void with bad movies and I'm just really worried.

ANyway, this was sort of random lol
