Details about acclaimed Iranian-American director Ramin Bahrani's latest film, which is set to star Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron, have just been released, with shooting to start later this year.
The currently untitled film is set in the cut-throat world of modern big business farming in Iowa and tells the story of Henry Whipple (most likely Quaid), an ambitious farmer and seed-seller whose manic pursuit of expansion alienates his two sons and wife, Irene.
His younger, rebellious son, Dean (likely played by Efron), rejects the family business to pursue his dreams of becoming a race car driver. However, the situation drastically changes when corporate agents begin a high-stakes investigation of Henry's business - one that threatens their livelihood but ironically brings the family closer together...
I would take this with a grain of salt until we get more info or until confirmation of Zac's attachment is provided in a trade. However, it is a project worth keeping an eye on. It has a well-respected young director and I'd love to see him work with Dennis Quaid.
