this is really cady checking in, not jeezbee.

thanks to jb and shrewtee for posting btw while i am unable to. i'm sorry i can't really keep up or respond to people much. i am getting better every day though.

ok...

these pictures scream paparazzi attention whore/pr attempt to get interest in his body. sorry if that pisses people off, but seriously. i said the same thing about alex p running shirtless. though admittedly that was worse since he was in a dark garage, at least zac is outside. zac why are you being so young hollywood cliche?

IDK why but this part is cracking me up.

Glad to see you're getting better. Welcome back! :)

BTW I have yo say, if people didn't have a problem with staging pictures before, why now? The new shirtless pics are as blatant as previous ones. Every celeb is known to pull these stunts every now and then. They have to give the public what they want.

In the first pic, he's looking right at the camera, and he's actually posing. LOL I find it rather cute how he's not even pretending to be unaware of the camera. Haha!

Come on, these are certainly no way as ridiculous as Heidi/Sepncer's. :/

They might not be as bad as Heidi/Spencer but they are really obvious. And what makes me roll my eyes more than with the other pics is that they were long-term planned.

And the fact that this is not the first time, he's been cashing in recently. The Calvin Klein fashion week, the ZEN endorsement, ...

Which are all things he's been calling out himself. Just go to the next post, where Zac has been criticizing (publicly in an interview) what he's been doing here. From his own interview:

STRAUSS: Other people need the validation of the public, and they don’t care whether it comes from appreciation of their creative work or a photo in a gossip magazine.

EFRON: Exactly. A lot of problems you see people having in this business ins that it becomes about their personal lives and not about their work. I never want to contribute to those magazines. Matthew McConaughey has single-handedly funded the tabloid magazines for the past two year now. Single-handedly. IF he would put on a shirt and just get away from the beach, maybe there would be a few less paparazzi around.

That was 4 years ago though. People change.

I know that and don't have a problem with people changing.

But he's still until today talking about wanting to be known for his movies and not his celebrity.

And right now, he doesn't have anything to promote.

do you really think he's known now more for his work? cuz I sure don't. I'm sorry I don't see the big deal, he's going to fashion shows, he's mingling, he might have got paid for taking some pictures. obviously he might be trying a new way of approaching things and I'm not going to say whether its good or bad yet because I don't know.

No, I don't think he's known more for his work. Which is exactly the reason why it's frustrating imo. Because the more he's promoting his body etc, the harder it's going to be to be known for your movies in the future.

Eg. I'm perfectly happy for him to present at every other awards show even when he has nothing to promote. It's a work-related association.

I mean though, if he had to exploit something his body really is the most harmless thing. The least invasive. The least personal. It's not like he got a twitter and is spewing random stuff.

And I do see his body as work related in a way. He changes for roles, his face obviously helps etc etc.

I guess where your disappointment is coming from, but his celebrity status has been more established since then. He has to "compromise" with the industry/media/ Hollywood in general/whatever. The change was inevitable.

I know that change was going to happen. And that stars have to play along sometimes. I totally understand that, esp during promotion of movies.

But to me the question is, is he an actor who happens to be also a celebrity or a celebrity who happens to act.

I always thought that he would want to fall into the former category. Wanting to be known for his acting/movies. And that's something he's saying until today.

So, when he's playing along every once in a while to get his movies promoted - no big deal.

But when he's doing badly staged pics for money and not any of his movies, then saying he's cashing in isn't so much bashing as just stating a fact imo. I wasn't saying what a horrible person he was etc.

I'm pretty sure this "photoshoot" and ZEN food thing are to promote The Lucky One. The new People magazine article and ZEN website are clearly mentioning that his new body is for The Lucky One.

The Hawaii pics last June were effective promotion for CStC - they were timed.

TLO doesn't have a release date and might be still 12+ months away. It might be an excuse but not the reason.

It may seem too early, but who knows? Warner already released two official stills last year.
