Watching the Empire video...

I love Zac but I wish someone (aka Gina) would take him to the side and tell him to stop fidgeting that much during interviews. He needs to stop permanently touching his hair, face, neck and arms during interviews because it makes him look like a vain and superficial douchebag, and it makes him hard to take serious. I’ll get he’s probably nervous and sometimes it’s endearing but it’s time to grow up. He’s done so many interviews by now, it can’t be that hard to keep your hands better under control (esp since it’s getting worse than better).

The endorsement for “Children in Need” was the worst. Why on earth didn’t Gina or Jason tell him to do it again? One of them surely had to be in the room when it was recorded and must have seen how stupid it looked when he touched his hair during that 20sec endorsement.

ETA: I should probably add that imo it's fine to "talk with your hands," the issue I have is with all the hair, face etc touching.

IA. And I don't totally understand why all of the sudden he's doing it so much. It is slightly baffling.

He needs to channel his nervous fidgeting somehow... it's really distracting and not in a good way.

Gina or somebody needs to teach him some tricks, like holding something small like a paperclip or rubberband in your fingers and playing with that... something small enough people don't notice.

Just not gum chewing. I just think it's so distracting and borderline tacky to conduct interviews/walk a red carpet whilst smacking on gum. :/ I guess if you can chew discretely, but it's usually noticable due to open mouthed chewing, making the gum at some point visible. D:

If he's nervous, he's nervous.

I think he's more antsy. After sitting in a room for hours and hours, aynone would want to break out.

I agree, but there are ways of dealing with it or handling it that look more professional and are less obvious.

I think the problem with it is that doing it that much is distracting from his message in a very detrimental way. And I don't think that's what he wants.

I couldn't agree more. I really noticed it on Letterman. I kept asking Audrey, "Why won't he sit still?"

I hope to god it's not related to something in his system. It makes me nervous:/

Remember at one point I said "Where is he going?" His foot/leg adjusting legit looked like he was about to get up and walk somewhere, LOL.

That's what I think is weird too and I'm trying to understand it... I mean clearly this film is a bit outside of his comfort zone and on top of his own incredible feeling of responsibility to everyone in the cast and crew, everyone outside the film is making it seem so important in his career (whether it is or not who knows?) but is it more than that? idk. It is something I am pondering a lot, lol.

And I'm sure being sick makes it worse too... like I'm sure it magnifies every uncomfortable feeling in him.

I can see why they think it is a big deal... I mean it's got all the hallmarks of being one... it's indie, it's an important director, it's got a great cast, it's a big topic, etc.

But I think once that project comes along where he really does break out then people will be saying all the same things. It's just the way they sell stuff.

I am also sort of reminded in this convo of this twitter I read yesterday or the day before:

@popcornaddict High School, check. Singing, check. Dancing, check. Just your usual Zac Efron movie then, just with less basketball added snore factor

Which is a really shallow and rather unfair view on the movie but in it's way isn't completely false.

I think Mike/Mark is the most different but Link, Troy and Richard are basically all somewhere on the continuum that is high school aged entertainer.
