Monet

I enjoy Fine Art. As a child my father would often take us to the Dallas Museum of Fine Art where we'd spend an entire weekend day. And while some of my favorites were the massive oils of realistic depictions - ships at sea battling a storm on a canvas as large as a wall, or an epic landscape encompassing an entire story in a single frame, I also ( Read more... )

Though you now I loathe correcting you it was the Kimball art Museum you saw "Monet and Mediterranean" at. I took my wife and my mom to see that same exhibit. My mom loved Monet!!!

Kimball, yes. That sounds about right. There is a Smithsonian in Fort Worth though, isn't there? Or is that Dallas?

No, I think you might be thinking of the mall in D.C. which is surrounded by the Smithsonian. It is easy to mistake since Dallas is such a capital city.

Warning: I am on Hydrocodone and you're talking about art. This may be quite verbose. :)

I love almost all kinds of art---except post WWII contemporary art for the most part. Pop Art annoys me, Abstract just angers me, and Mark Rothko.........oh, don't get me started on Rothko. :)

I love Kimbell. Kimbell is a lot smaller than the DMA, but the quality of work they have is top notch.

I adore Monet and Renoir was flawless. Though he was one of the Grandfathers of Impressionism, he kept the feel of Baroque alive in a way because of the style in which he painted nudes and how he appreciated beauty, especially in the form of a woman. He really was the last great master of the art of appreciating the beauty of a woman in her au natural form.

In other words, Renoir knew a beautiful woman was/is a curvy woman. :)

Surrealism makes me happiest, though. Rene Magritte is (one of) my hero(es).

As far as your artwork, that's quite interesting, Sir. :) That's all I have to say about it at this time.

Under the circumstances, that's high praise indeed. Thank you.
