The nutrient we're all missing

So I was playing around on MSN, and read this absolutely fascinating article that I've shared with a couple of you. It's about omega-3s and why they've disappeared from our diets, and why this is a bad thing. Basically, the author, Susan Allport, explains that omega-3s are spring fatty acids found in photosynthetic plants, and they help promote brain function and cardiovascular function, among other things. Omega-6s, the other fatty acid, is a fall fatty acid, found in seeds, which makes our bodies think we're going into hibernation. These two fatty acids fight against each other, and we're now consuming many more omega-6s than they did 50 years ago. This could be one of the reasons for obesity and a lot of the brain issues our society is currently experiencing.

Anyways, I found it interesting, and I thought a lot of you might think it was worth a read.
