Tommy lives in one of the shacks in densely populated areas in Philippines.
Tommy`s father unemployed and mother is a retailer in the street. She is making just a couple of dollars throughout the day for existence. In Philippines most of the kids do not go to schools as their parents cannot effort it. Tommy spending most of his time in the street and he is engaged in pick pocketing as most other kids in this country.
Philippines, Sibusi adults detention center. Tommy is expected to arrive here in a while as he made an unsuccessful attempted to steal a wallet and been caught by police. Tommy is not new in Sibusi as he spent several months in custody a little earlier.
Sibusi adults detention center initially designed for 200 people, but right now there are 1800 adults and kids forced to squeeze in tiny cells. Absolute absence of sanitation and poor nourishment making the situation even worse. “One bowl of rise sometimes distributed from 11 to 15 people, we are very scared to sleep at night as we might get raped by adults” says Tommy. He is also adding: “It is very nice when it is raining as we can get a bath under the rain, but it is very inconvenient to live in a single cell where 595 of us trying to find a tiny space to sit”.
Meanwhile, parents of Tommy arguing and blaming each other for the grim fate of the kid. Father says: “I told you that we don`t need this kid as we can`t support him” and mother answers: “If you were a little smarter and employed we could overcome these difficulties”.
In a while Tommy was released and in less then a month been caught again with robbery. It was his third time in Sibusi.
Recently Tommy died in a car accident in the age of 13.
