Tuesday night, I went to a Weight Watchers staff training, all about taking care of you wonderful people out there when you come into our centers and step on our scales. (Weight Watchers really does a lot of training, and it's very well done!) We paired up and told each other our "tipping point" stories, what made us decide to make a change and join the program in the first place. And I told again about how I spent years losing, regaining, relosing, regaining. And that in March 2009, I decided I wanted to stop the cycle, get to goal and stay there.
It hit me: was that what was different than all those other times? Before had I just said, "I want to lose weight, I want to get thin," but this last time I kept saying, "I want to get to goal and stay there"?
Maybe finally this is really a big part of the difference! It seems kinda dumb, but just saying it that way maybe gave me more focus.
How about you: do you want to get to your goal weight? What has to happen for you to get to your goal weight? Can you do it? Will you do it?
