March 6th, 2000. To my family.
She must have read the letter hundreds of times, huh? Since she received it. It’s little wonder it echoed in her mind, word by word by written word.
Yukari... You're so small right now, but in ten years, you'll be sixteen. You'll be in high school.
He’d predicted that right enough, but she wondered, leaning against the wall, hands clasped behind her back and watching her mother giggle in the arms of another man, if he’d predicted this.
Her mouth twisted bitterly as she watched, and then Yukari turned away, hands still gripping each other behind her back, eyes downcast. And then she walked away.
But, I swear to you that nothing-
A call from her mother:
is more important to me
”Yukari, I’d like you to come and meet him”--
than you
”I want you to come to the”--
and your mother.
”wedding.”
A phone clattering to the ground-
Well, I hope this letter brings a smile to your face.
Love, Dad
And she buries her face in her hands and wishes he were there. She had never thought…losing her father would mean that she would lose her mother as well.
“I’m leaving.”
Live elsewhere. Anywhere else.
When she stared at the window-not out of it, just at it-alone on the train, her reflection was the only thing that stared back.

[When she wakes up, she looks disgruntled-but she doesn’t seem to notice that the Dreamberry has recorded anything at all.
A sigh; she runs her hand through her hair.]
That time of year again, huh?
