The last week I was on a mission trip in New York City! We were in the heart of Brooklyn's China Town, and it was awesome! We loved wandering around, looking at all the different produce and fish (they even sold live eels, turtles, and frogs). The best thing was the Chinese "Starbucks." :)
The actual mission was much different than what we were used to. Instead of painting houses, we entertained old people, cooked food for homeless shelters, and ran a VBS at Sunset Park (in the middle of the Latino quater). We met amazing people and experienced great culture. I wish I spoke Spanish instead of French! :P
Anyway, we spent the 4th of July in Manhatten. It wasn't crowded at all, so we were able to navigate easily. Visiting Ground Zero was a bit spooky and sad. Times Square is still a vibrant area! :) Our hotel was back in the Latino quater, so we walked to Sunset Park to watch the fireworks alongside the locals. It was pretty sweet.
I don't have any of China Town, but I do have a butt load of other pictures, so here we go!
Where the World Trade Center used to be in the skyline.
Freak show at Coney Island.
Sign outside bumper cars. XD
Countdown to the hotdog contest! Too bad we weren't there...
Carny rides at Coney Island! Gotta love them...
Skyline of Coney Island. The big tower was a place where people could parachute down. Too bad they're demolishing everything...
Ground zero
Little memorial.
One section of the names of people who were killed.
Firefighter's memorial. There are names of the dead lining the bottom of the plaque.
Times Square. Look at all the billboards!
Broadway billboards.
The Harry Potter shop in FAO Schwartz! <3 I didn't buy anything though- it was too expensive.
One of my favorites! :)
