(unnecessary) drama

My poor Christmas cards. Seriously. If I were pagan I'd pray to Hermes or whomever it is who helps travelers and communication. My Christmas cards need a little 'godspeed' and goodwill.

Pictures were taken. Cards were ordered. Notices that my order had been completed arrived in my mailbox, followed by the email that said they were shipped and ready to be picked up. I call, they aren't there. I call the next day... and the next... and the next... Finally, Monday arrived and they still weren't there and now I have a wee bit of a problem: Tuesday we left for Florida.

I asked to speak with the manager and he agreed to box up my cards when they do arrive and send them to me here. I drop off a box, label and postage for this purpose and I call every day to see if this has happened. I feel like the little boy in the book who plants a carrot and everyone keeps telling him 'it won't come up.'

Finally, today, they say my cards arrived and have been mailed to me!! Now... to see if they get here in time for me to turn them around and send them out -before- Christmas.

In the meantime, I am looking for Brian's gift. According to the automated system, it was delivered by UPS today, but there ain't nothin' here and I double checked the shipping address to make sure it was coming here and didn't go to Jersey (because, wouldn't that just be my luck?).

Now I know why some people finish things up and get ready in August. :-p
