Kei sighed putting the ring back on. "Everyone that I geniunely loved was taken away from me in one night...and it was all my father's fault. I'm the oldest of 5 girls, and of course being the oldest, you have certain responsibilities to uphold. Well, mine was being hitched to some jerk heir from another company just so my father's would stay afloat; unknownst to him, I had met someone secretly at a party I went to one night. When I told my father my plans, he was geniunely upset and told me I had no say so in the matter since I was the child and he was the parent, blah, blah, blah, so...we eloped and moved away to the country where we thought he would never be able to find us...," she sighed. "It was about a year and a half into our marriage and I had found out I was pregnant - about 3 months along - and I had come home from work that night to find our place in shambles and a note on the door telling me if I cared about Brice's welfare, I would meet him..." Kei sighed, trying to keep the tears at bay, but finding that she was failing badly as she opened her purse to remove a handkerchief she had stored there. "I"m sorry..."
Sideswipe's eyes widened with Kei's story. He'd heard of such responsibilities in the business world, something about marriages being good for merging companies or something like that. He'd never really paid much attention to what he heard. Now, he was paying attention. He gave a nod of understanding when Kei had to pull out a handkerchief.
"It's alright," he told her. "This must be really hard on you."
She dabbed at her eyes. "It's just...I understand, but...," she sniffled. "I feel like I'm betraying him. We went through so much and then it was all wiped out and I'm afraid if I go through with this...then I really will have lost him..." she shook her head. "His father assures me that's not the case, but he's not me. He can't tell me how I feel!"
