Quatre took the stairs two at a time until he reached the second floor. He got to the right floor and headed down the hall. Reaching room 220, he knocked on the door.

Heero frowned. Thinking it was someone looking for help with their computer after the major network downtime, he got up to answer it. "What?" he asked the small blond standing at the door.

"Are you busy at the moment?" He asked with a sincere smile on his face.

"Sort of." Which was partially true. He had homework, and the network admin he reported to for his work study hours had asked him to run another scan later that day.

"Can you spare an hour or two?"

"If you need me to check your computer after the network crash, it won't take that long," Heero pointed out. "Unless you're having trouble with it...?"

"It's not that. My computer's fine." Quatre said. There was a grin on his face, one that meant he was being a conniving little bastard.

Heero didn't like that grin. Dr Jay wore it often when he had some idea brewing in that crackpot brain of his. "Then what do you want?" he asked somewhat sourly.

"Well, there is this party going on downstairs Heero."

"I heard." He didn't look overly enthused with the idea. In fact, he was feeling completely the opposite. He hated parties.

"There's more to life than computers."

"That's my major."

"I understand that Heero." He frowned a bit, "But seriously. You need more interaction than those machines. It'll do you good."

"What good?" he asked. "People are annoying."

"So I'm annoying then?"

At this, Heero seemed to back off slightly. "Not always," he admitted. "But I don't like large crowds."

"It's not even a large crowd. There's only two other people there."

"That doesn't mean more won't show up," he said.

"Just for a bit Heero? If it starts to get too crowded, you can leave." Quatre asked. He didn't meant to start pouting or give Heero the Big Blue Eyes.

Heero frowned. "Why is this such a big deal for you?"

"You can't be alone all the time Heero."

Heero sighed. "Why not? I like being alone."

"I know that Heero. I like being alone too at times. But, there are times when you need to just follow your emotions."

Heero looked away from Quatre, clearly reluctant. "I don't know."

He nodded, looking dow and a little dejected. "Alright."

"Hn." Heero frowned. "Why do you care what I do, anyway?"

"Because I think of you as a friend Heero."

"You hardly know me," he said, sounding surprised.

"So? What does that matter?"

"I would think you would want to know someone before thinking of them as a friend, right?"

"It's not about knowing them deeply Heero. I trust you. I have a good feeling about you in my heart."

Heero looked at Quatre with a rather confused expression.

He met Heero's eyes, although a little sheepishly.

"As long as I can leave if it gets too crowded," Heero finally said softly after a moment of awkward silence.

Quatre nodded. "You can. I promise."

Heero sighed, shoving his hands in his pockets. He glanced back at his computer for a moment, noting the screensaver had kicked in. That meant it was locked, so it wouldn't matter if Zechs got back. He grabbed his cellphone. "Alright, fine. Let's get this over with."

Quatre smiled and then tenatively hugged Heero. "Thank you."

Heero stiffened at the hug. No, he had definitely not expected that. "Y-you're... welcome..." he said, sounding rather unsure of himself all of a sudden.

He quickly pulled away. "'I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that!"

Heero just nodded, not knowing what else to say at that point. "So... are we going now?" he finally asked after yet another moment of awkward silence.

Quatre looked up and nodded. "Of course!"

"Okay." Heero waited for Quatre to lead. He certainly wasn't going to walk in there first!

With a smile to Heero, the blonde started down the stairs.

Heero hesitantly followed.

Quatre looked back at Heero and smiled. "It's alright."

"We'll see."

"Heero... Don't worry. I know social gatherings may not be your thing. But... If you find that some how you can't leave... Just call me, okay? I'll be right there. No one messes with me. I tend to make friends with the scary people."

"I don't know if that could be considered a good thing," Heero said, making his way down the stairs after the blond.

"The scary people are usually very nice." Quatre replied cheerfully.

Heero quirked an eyebrow, giving Quatre a very doubtful look.

He stopped at the bottom of the stairs and looked back at Heero. "I may seem like a very trusting person Heero, but I know when someone's not sincere. I get this feeling about people in my gut."

The Japanese teenager frowned a bit, but then gave Quatre a very tight little nod. "Fine," he said. Of course, as long as he had it so he could leave when he wanted, he supposed it really didn't matter in the end. If this whole thing proved to be nuts, he'd just bail.

He smiled sincerly at Heero. "There's nothing wrong with making a new friend or two."

At that, Heero didn't look so sure. "I've never had good luck with friends," he admitted. It didn't help that he'd moved around a lot with his first guardian.

"Well, you have me now."

The dark haired teen shrugged, looking away. He really didn't want to get more into this.

Quatre then headed into Petunia's common room.

Heero watched him for a moment, actually debating at that second to go back up to his room, but he had given his word to Quatre that he'd at least sit for a little while. He just wondered for a moment what that pink haired girl... Euphie?... what she was going to say. After all, he had told her he wasn't coming. He sighed inwardly to himself and stepped after the blond teenager, his hands still firmly and stiffly shoved into the pockets of his jeans.
