So This Is Christmas | Dean/Castiel | G | For
crystalchain, Merry Christmas darling!
The lights on the tree sparkle like Castiel's eyes when he wakes up. Standing here, even being so far away, Dean can make out practically ever little light gleaming on each strong branch, the ornaments shining brightly in the glow.
The ground around the tree is white, painted with the crisp snow that keeps falling on his face every time he looks up at the moon, nearly full in the sky. It's like a little kid has cut out each and every one individually, big and fluffy and so delicate. He wonders if the angels up in Heaven have seen this, if Castiel's ever seen a tree lit up and felt a snowflakes cold touch on his tongue.
The night is silent around him, them, and though Castiel arrives without even the slightest disturbance, Dean knows he's there. He can practically feel his shadow behind him, the trench coat flowing like wings at Castiel's sides, wind turning the inside out for the brief second that it whistles through.
The angel steps to stand at Dean's side, where he belongs. "You're cold," Castiel breaks the quiet.
Dean laughs, and it's like the entire world of ice and snow just melts, his laugh so deep and caramel that the pains and worries of the world are soothed within it's grasp.
"Have you ever seen a Christmas tree?" Dean asks, Castiel stepping closer as he speaks, their shoulders brushing and the heat tingling between their bodies.
"Christmas tree?" The angel is puzzled, his face the complete reflection of a child-like innocence.
"Come," Dean says, his hand finding Castiel's, their fingers wrapping together, "I'll show you."
