Chapter 10

If before Heechul was pissed, now heechul was livid. Heechul was irate. He was many things equal to very very angry. He crushed his coffee can in his hand and threw it against the wall and kicked a few chairs before leaving the break room to return to practice.

He wasn't in the mood at all and as soon as he entered all of the members knew they had a situation on their hands. The Heechul that stood at the doorway radiated waves of anger.

"Glad to see you could make it back. You owe me for the coffee," Leeteuk said, dimple showing.

Everyone shuddered at the glare Heechul gave the leader in response. But as always Leeteuk seemed unfazed by him. It was always Leeteuk who seemed to have no fear of death. Maybe it came with being the leader of a very large group of men.

Whatever it was Heechul just followed Leeteuk's direction, still radiating his evil aura. He took his place and Yesung and Shindong hesitated before taking their places beside him. And thus practice began. It was going ok although it was hard to ignore the elephant in the room.

Finally Leeteuk yelled over the music.

"Stop! Stop stop!" He looked square at Heechul. "What's this?"

Heechul merely shrugged.

"Well, you came here to work, right?" Leeteuk fixed him a hard gaze and Heechul found his eyes shifting to the side. Leeteuk's gaze softened and he walked over to Heechul's side and reached a hand out. "Are you ok...?"

"I'm fine!" Heechul said, side stepping Leeteuk's hand.

"You don't look fine and you're not acting fine," Leeteuk said.

Heechul said nothing.

"Start the music!" Leeteuk ordered to Eunhyuk. "Go on for a bit we'll be back. Come one."

Leeteuk went out the door, gesturing for Heechul to follow. Heechul did and as the door shut behind them they could hear the music begin again. Heechul followed a few paces behind as Leeteuk led them back into the break room. A sound of disappoinment escaped the slightly older man's lips as he discovered the chairs toppled over and a drink can on the floor.

"Those trainees...," he muttered, bending to right some of the chairs. "Here, sit down."

Heechul sat in the chair Leeteuk was currently holding the back of. As soon as Heechul sat down he felt his eyes slip shut. He was still angry but somehow the chair was so inviting to him. He felt a cool hand on his forehead.

"You haven't been sleeping much and the way you've been eating is..."

"I'm sorry," Heechul cut him off. "It's my own damn fault. I shouldn't take it out on the group. I'm just ready to fucking move on. The hell with everything... with him and with being angry over shit that isn't your control."

While Heechul was speaking Leeteuk nudged him and handed him a cup of water.

"Why were you so angry?" Leeteuk asked. "And don't say you were tired."

Heechul stared at the cup in his hand as Leeteuk pulled up a chair beside him and sat down, putting a hand on his knee.

"But I am. I'm tired." Pause. "Tired of thinking. You know I don't think I even care if he comes back anymore. But I hate how much power he has over me even from this far."

Leeteuk squeezed Heechul's knee consolingly.

"I... I've been kind of seeing someone."

"Oh?"

Heechul hated how Leeteuk didn't even sound surprised.

"Aren't you going to ask who?" Heechul asked.

"Not my business," Leeteuk replied.

Heechul shrugged, "Ok. But just know you missed your chance to find out who. I know you'll be asking later." He managed a slight grin at the leader with those words.

"Oh, I'm sure I can get it out of you," chuckled Leeteuk. "So do you like him?"

"No."

"Then...?"

"I'm just selfish."

----

Leeteuk had left Heechul in the breakroom alone. He told the other to have his ass in line and be back within the next hour or else. Heechul merely laughed it off. Talking to Leeteuk made him feel much better. Don't get it mistaken. Heechul still felt like shit, but atleast he didn't feel like rampaging. He felt a sort of calm over him as he thought over his situation.

He didn't like Sulli. He just wanted her to himself. It was a kind of twisted way of looking at things. The person he relied on, his anchor had gone away and he was floating and he grabbed hold of the first person willing to fill that void. That's all it was. He knew it was wrong to keep her to himself. He knew she was better elsewhere.
Jonghyun had accused Taemin of corrupting Sulli. If only he knew how far he was from the truth. Taemin was more appropiate and Heechul was selfish because the thought of it made him bitter.

"Pathetic," Heechul scoffed, feeling unnecessary anger trying to pool once again like lead in his stomach. The last thing he needed to do was get angry again. Especially when...

"Oppa!"

Heechul looked up and there in the breakroom doorway stood Sulli. Her surprised face was quite cute and became even cuter as her wide eyes turned into her adorabl eyesmile. Her face radiated with happiness at seeing him there and Heechul found his heart skip a beat. To think that merely seeing him brought such a smile to this girl's face. Who wouldn't want that?

"Oppa! Good morning!" she greeted happilly, bouncing over towards him.

Did she smile for Taemin like that too? How could she give him that smile when last night she...

"How was your date?" Heechul asked.

He noted how she stopped bouncing and the smile was replaced by a confused expression.

"I told you, it wasn't a date," she said, laughing a little at the end, though her eyes betrayed her worry.

"Really?" Heechul went on. "But I talked to him earlier... I am pretty sure he thought it was a date."

"It must be a misunderstanding--"

Sulli squeaked, stopping midsentence as Heechul grabbed her her by the wrist and pulled her down onto him.

"Oppa!" she sent a worried glance toward the door.

"Why won't you admit it!? Just say it was a date so we can put a stop to this and go on with out lives!"

"W,what!?" Sulli asked, turning her head back towards him.

Heechul looked up at the girl basically on his lap. She was staring down at him with wide frantic eyes, her cheeks tinged with pink. He didn't know what came over him but the thought of her lying to him infuriated him more than her being with Taemin.

"I dont care if you're with Taemin," Heechul said, looking her right in the eyes. "I don't care. Just tell me."

Sulli swallowed, bringing her arms around Heechul's neck.

"Oppa...," she said. "I only have eyes for you. I... Oppa, I like you!"

Heechul moved his hands to pull Sulli back, breaking the hug.

"Shut up," Heechul said.

"But I..."

"Shut up."

He moved his head forward, capturing Sulli's lips in a kiss. He felt his heart aching as they shared a hard kiss. Heechul poured his frustration into it, wrapping his arms tightly around her waist. She groaned and he broke the kiss, instead  resting his head on her shoulder. She threaded her fingers through his hair.

"I like you," she said again and he stood up, pushing her onto the floor.

"I said shut up," he said, looking down at her.

She stared up from the floor at him, eyes widened into circles. She looked so deer like and innocent right there. A teenager girl in a white hoodie, yellow tank top and green linen skirt, hair done in pig tails. It was deplorable really. Where was his conscience that night when he forced himself on her the first time? Wasn't that what it was? It wasn't what she needed and if she were with Taemin maybe that was for the better as much as it disgusted him because he was empty. He had nothing to give her. He just knew how to use her.

"I don't... I don't understand you," she said, eyes narrowing.

"Good. Don't even try," Heechul said.

"What the heck is wrong with you?" Sulli spat, surprising Heechul as she stood, brushing off her legs and still glaring at him.  "I don't understand you! What is this? Is this a game?"

"I don't know, you tell me," Heechul shot back. He really didn't want to get into it, especially when he wasn't sure himself.

"What do you mean? I just want to know where we stand. One moment you kiss me the next you're ignoring me!"

"I do not ignore you!"

"Yes you do! You never replied to my message last night. When I'm with your band mates you treat me like I'm 5! You're so damn moody you won't even tell me what the heck is bothering you and now you're accusing me of doing god knows what with Taemin."

Heechul rolled his eyes.

"Do you even like me?"

A thick silence hung in the air as Heechul stared up at the ceiling. Did he even like her? What did he tell Leeteuk? No. He didn't like her. He needed her. He needed her smile because it calmed him. He needed her warmth because he wasn't enough in the night. He needed her laugh because it made him feel you. He needed her touch because he felt wanted. He needed her so much but he didn't know if he liked her. He jsut didn't know how much of her he was using to replace the ghost of the past.

But how could he say that? She was only 16 years old would she even begin to understand the things he wanted to say. How much of this was merely a fantasy for her? She was taking as much from him as he was from her, right?

"I understand."

Heechul was knocked out of his thoughts and turned his head to face Sulli. His heart clenched at the sight of the tears gathering in her eyes.

"I understand," she said. "You don't have to say anything."

"Sulli-ah," he said. "It's just..."

"I'm a kid. I understand," she wiped at her eyes with the back of her sleeve. "Old enough to mess around with but that's about it."

"That's..." Heechul began, but he couldn't say anything. He couldn't deny it. Her words, though harsh, were true, right? But then why was watching her cry like this twisting his heart so? But maybe it was best like this, right? It had to end eventually, albeit he was hoping under better circumstances.

Heechul let out a bitter sounding laugh.

"Why are you laughing?" she asked. "This is funny to you?"

Heechul shrugged, and finally looked her in the eyes. "Actually yes. Yes it is... Because I'm so fucking stupid to ever get involved with you. What the hell was I thinking? Rather  comical I think I've out done myself. But whatever, what's done is done and you're no Hankyung. I was stupid to make the comparison."

That seemed to be the last straw for Sulli. She  scrunched her face, eyes basically blind with tears and swung wildly at him. Heechul caught both of her fist before they could land on his body.

"I hate you!" she screamed as she tried to pull her hands from his hold.

Heechul let go and Sulli took that time to run towards the door, but she tripped and fell onto her knees, sobbing loudly. Her whole body was shaking from the force of her tears. He watched her back before stepping forward and croaching behind her.

"Sulli-ah..." he said, putting a hand on her back but she emrely scooted away, still sobbing.

Heechul sighed, looking at his watch. It was time for him to head back. Standing he went to leave the room. He spared one glance back at the sobbing form on the floor before letting the door shut behind him hoping to end another short chapter of his life.

To be continued...
