cool - but you say they didn't tell you the class would be mostly spanish speaking - that is a little odd...

Yep! Very odd. But I did tell them I had minimal Spanish skills (after taking a 200 level college course and having several years of Spanish pre-college, I thought the description fit), so it's not too far of a stretch that they would team an education-degree person with minimal Spanish skills with a fluent native speaker with minimal ed-education.

I love my job and, to be honest, they can do no wrong right now. Ask me again in a month, and I'll have a rant for you. :)

How perfectly splendid! I am so proud of you, my dear. I a pretty sure I have some Spanish 101 texts around here - if you want I can be crash space and study hall. :)

Wow. And I just read your post about your amenities. You're officially my favorite crash space. Ten times that if you let me help paint. I love painting on walls!

I would have assumed that espalda is shoulder (from the same Latin root that gave us, via Old French, the words spaldron and epaulette).

Congratulations on having a job that you enjoy, that allows you to do some tangible good for children and our city (and that brings you to Madison, which is a bonus for all of us).

See? Even you were closer than I was. :P At least you came up with a body part! I honestly thought I was telling her I liked her dress!

That's okay. Now I know, and I plan to use that knowledge to ask them to scratch the itch that's always right in the center of my espalda. :)

Thanks for the congrats- I certainly have been reveling in it. It's like getting paid to do feel-good volunteer work in the center of some sort of cultural mecca. Plus, I'm learning something challenging and new and vital. I don't think I could fly higher than I am.
