Hi!
So, I'm assuming, since you're all human, you all relax at some point.
How do you do it?
I mean, I'm learning all this cool stuff about deep breathing, and tensing body part by body part until I start realizing- HEY! Woah! That's not tense- that's the opposite of tense!! Wow! I've sucessfully relaxed my right foot!
...but then I usually have to stop to victory dance. And then I have to start all over again. I mean, sure, I'm smiling like crazy when I rewind the CD, but still. Takes me about 30 minutes to get through a 5-minute routine.
Does anybody know any good CDs or books or anything? It doesn't have to be meditation- I hear Yoga is the bomb, too, but I'm not sure I'd be able to stay focused without someone telling me, "Stop thinking about everything else. All you have to do is what I'm telling you to do. Now tense that left foot until it hurts!"
And, too, I'm nervous about relaxing in front of other people. Isn't that just the strangest, most counter-productive thing you've ever heard? Anyway, when I'm around you, I'll probably do weird things like suddenly seem to fall comatose. Don't be alarmed- I'm practicing. It's a good thing. (You might want to check to make sure I'm still breathing occassionally. After all, poison might have a similar effect.)
Seriously, the first time I realized that heavy-tingle-warm feeling was the feeling of relaxation, I ruined everything by jumping from the bed and giggling like a maniac. I relaxed my foot! Bwah ha ha ha ha! Next stop: World Domination! Bwah ha ha ha ha!
Also, I am now getting GREAT sleep, and falling to sleep, like, instantaneously. I can't remember the last time I actually passed out. Well, aside from WW three years ago. Uh, I'm still sorry about that, friendly meatpole trio. (I so did not grab your butts.)
Next, I plan to try relaxing while holding a sword. Jack said it would help, and at the Resort this weekend, I could feel how badly I was sucking, I mean, I could sense that being tense was having a negative affect on my game.
Also, hee! I said "my game" like I have a game! Ha ha ha! Squee, I have a cool hobby! Squee!
...I just realized, I picked the exact wrong season to learn how to fence. I should be doing this in spring so I have all kinds of warm days, and then the summer hits, and I have all kinds of hot days, and then I could have been well on my way for crisp-autumn-leaves fall fencing. Stupid broken internal alarm clock.
