Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I Review
The over all expressions coming out of the theater is confusion from people who never read the books. The movie is split in to two parts so they should have had more time explaining through dialog to the audience. But sadly the action and the camping scenes seem to be as the focused. Thus ignoring everything else.
Things that were left out were:
- The touching moment between Dudley and Harry never happened.
- Harry and Ginny's relationship is still completely ignored. The audience does not even feel that she is even important to Harry except for the occasional kiss.
- Remus and Tonks did not even say the got married. When Tonks was about to announced she was pregnant she was cut off mid sentence.
- The Weasley's brother Charlie is not even in the movie.
- They introduce Bill in this movie when they should have in the 6th movie. Just a sentence going “Hi! Harry I'm Bill...oh these claw marks. I had an encounter with werewolf off screen. I really want to get back at him”
- Who ever wrote the script seems to be a Harry/Hermione fan. Because the dancing sequence was just a waste of time when they could have been talking how they missed Ron. Like in the book so that when Ron suddenly appears again. Both of them realize they spoke his name aloud for the first time in weeks.
- Wormtail death does not even happen like in the book. He seems to be rendered unconscious by Dobby.
- The reason for Bellatrix freaking out when she saw that sword of Godric Griffindor was never fully explained.
What they did right:
- The feeling of hopelessness is carried though out the movie.
- The prejudiced of the pure bloods is clearly shown.
- They have Dobby in the movie.
- The cinematography and soundtrack was great.
From a person who loved reading the books. The script writes and directors have been leaving out, adding things, giving the wrong characters the wrong lines, or just plain ignoring characters since the 3rd movie. At this point it's just routine for those things to happen now. Which is sad because they should have gone out with more feeling.
Overall I give the movie 5.5 out of 10.
