My own ignorance frightens me

I have been a little sidetracked lately, and have not really had my head in fiction writing. You know how you can come to love a fictional being, and they walk beside you through your day ( Read more... )

I know nothing about Christopher Marlowe, but did you know about the Christopher Marlowe Mysteries? I've got one on my harddrive that I could upload if you're interested.

And I totally know what you mean about falling for a fictional (or historical) being so hard. It's a fantastic, dizzying feeling and I love experiencing it so much. I wish it'd happen more often.

No I had not heard of the Marlowe mysteries. If you want to upload I would be very grateful.

As for loving the fictional and historical-- doesn't it feel just like falling for a right-in-front-of-you person? Fantastic and dizzying, yes. So glad I found a place where people understand!

I'll upload it tomorrow and drop you the link.

I've got two major historical crushes: the German poet and satirist Heinrich Heine, with whom I fell in love after I read his letters, and Lucy Maud Montgomery of the Anne of Green Gables fame. I read her journals last year and I loved them. I am now thinking about buying the new edition of the journals as well, as the previous ones were censored. With both of them, I had such a strong sense of the person behind the words, across the centuries, and, as I kept telling people, they both read surprisingly modern. I felt like I could be friends with them in RL.

Oh, and funnily enough, LM Montgomery writes at one point about a book she's been reading, in which a young girl from South Africa experiences the same doubts and fears that she, LMM, does. It seems odd to her that she should feel so close to some individual so far removed from her through time and space. And there's me, reading LMM's journals and feeling the same sort of spiritual kinship with her, through time and space. It's great ( ... )

That was amazing! I loved the Renaissance music - is it Renaissance? It made me want to join hands and do a circle dance.

I think this time around I will read the Marlowe stories too. Last time I charged through the Eglantine Epic of Horatio and Archie, I ignored almost everything non-Archie. I didn't even know who Matt Devlin or the Aubreyad boys were, so I skipped them. By this read-through I know just enough to enjoy those stories too. So perhaps it's time to try Marlowe. My fandom education progresses!

Do you have any more episodes? They have expired from the radio.
